You're right Billy, that is pretty epic. I'd hate to adjust all those valves. I'd also be concerned about motor oil pooling in the bottom cylinders considering an XR cylinder head is designed to operate upright.

wouldn't it make more sense to run them all horizontal on top of the gearbox...and have the gear box driving the prop? I think it would.

EDIT: I think Ninja who posted before me realized it too. lol

The XR's have oil pumped to the cam journals don't they? I don't think this guy would go through all that to have the cams get welded to the heads

If he can build that, I'm sure he can figure out a simple oil problem LOL.

Yes ,this is true Jason but it also has a splash guard located by the cam sprocket ,toward's the middle. You know shoot's up the line hit's the splash cover and lube's the rocker's.It's not the cam i'd be worried about so much, thankfully they had cam bearing's also as you probably already know. But i'd be more worried about the rocker's getting lube'd.I know on mine exhaust side particular it's a constant issue with having to readjust the valve's because she'll get a tick and then she start's to smoke. That's my sign to readjust again. No matter how tight I get the jam nut it alway's llosen's up and only on the exhaust side valve's,and I don't get how he'd have an oil pick-up on the head either,IDK..I'm sure like you said Jason, the guy would'nt build something like that and can't figure out a simple oil problem.
If those are on stock bore it should be 97 mm piston per x the 9 cylinder's.Whew that's alot, still very impressive...

Well, thanks for the explaination Roger, I know what your saying. He could maybe add some kind of oil knozzle to shoot oil where he needs It. Or he can just keep flipping the plane over to oil the top end of the bottom cylinder!!!

I thought this was for a boat? Which is why my original statement of running them horizontally atop a gear box which drives a prop makes the most sense for oiling, or did I completely misread something?
