So, what could I expect, kx250 cylinder an PVL ignition on my 85 T3?

PVL ignition and a kX cylinder and DG pipe (best I can find ) Should my 85 Tecate be a screamer? Willl I have to mess with gearing and such Ned advice. I don't know what to expect out of this setup.

Should I have the head ported? How much dose that cost?

Should scream with that combination....porting never hurts, if you can find someone to do it (properly). I have heard good and bad with PVL ignitions. Heard they are a little tuff to dial in. The PVL also has less recipricting weight....might want to change the gearing a little.

You will need a carb too for maximum gains...

Oh yes, I have an 85 Tecate that has a seriously ported kx cylinder, motoplat ignition, reed spacer, 41mm Mikuni flat slide, with a DG pipe. Its had cooling problems since I bought it and you cant keep the front wheel down. So yeah it will haul.

I also have an 84 Tecate Klemm ported KX cylinder, 41mm Mikuni flat slide, DG pipe, Ricky Stator, on the stock ignition and its a screamer..

    Yep, you should be good..

Glad to hear. I don't know if I'll be able to get it ported, I'm not sure how much a mild port costs. I do need to check into a better carb. What advantage do reed spacers offer?

From everything I have read, none. Bansheehq had a post about them saying on banshees that have been dynoed they actually lost hp. Not a lot mind you, 1 or 2 horses. The Banshee guys use them to space the carbs back so the clutch arm has clearance with the carb bowls.
Its just another place to have an air leak really. It was on the bike when I bought it.

On big bore apps where a oem cylinder is used, they bring intake volume back to where it should be.....Bigger bores mean piston is closer to intake track and volume is reduced. By pushing back reed block it allows 'charge' to reach speed, and allows rear port to feed fuel better for more even draw........example 70 to 76mm. Or 70 to 80mm Are some of the more, and less common big bore Tecate tuneups. On small bore cylinders, this is up for debate.

I really can't wait to tear into the intake side of this bt cylinder to see just exactly what that ? means engraved into the cylinder there.
