Quality time in the garage this weekend

Been working like a dog the last few months. Finally got a day off Friday, followed by an early day Saturday so I had time to hang out in the garage a bit for the first time in a long time.

Finished installing the Westcoast swinger and the freshly rebuilt rear shock with progressive spring on the '86 R. Apparently going to have to fix a stripped thread for one of the skid plate bolts. No biggie. I haven't fully adjusted the rear shock yet but I can already tell how much nicer it is than the original one I removed. Still need to install the progressive front springs and NASA adjusters as well. Also don't have a chain long enough for the +2 swinger yet.

Took the 1985 200x old school flat tracker for a quick ride around the neighborhood. It's running pretty decent now. Still need to tear it down and get the parts I want ready for my other 200x build.

Washed the 350x and cleaned up the electrical contacts to hopefully fix the dim headlight problem. Haven't checked to see if it worked yet.

Picked up a little TV for twenty bucks off Craigslist and installed a cable jack in the garage for it. Gotta have cable tv in the garage, you know?

Don't think I've ever posted a picture of the 1983 110 I bought for Michelle a few months ago. Planning to fix it up a bit this summer. Runs "ok" but needs front and rear bearings, gotta fix a couple minor leaks, the forks are bent and I'll need a headlight and tailight assembly as well as a grab bar for it. Got it for $150 I think. Might have been $100. Can't remember. That's my "free" 1985 250r project sitting next to it.

Still lots of work to do in the garage. I need to get it way more organized but I can't spend any money on it right now so I just move the mess around when I want to work on one of the trikes. Eventually I need to get some overhead storage happening in there. I don't want anything touching the floor unless it has wheels.

Running a cable line to the garrage was one of the best things I did out there last year.

As always, those are some nice trikes. But we need you out riding, you always get good riding pictures.

I'm glad to have quality time out in the garage. Being a high School senior isn't very stressful imo. When it warms up in the summer I've been at the bikes till 2 and 3 in the morning so I'd just stretch out on the old truck bench seat I use for a couch and sleep there for the night.lol Really nice rides too. The westcoast looks sweet on the r.

Just spent some more time in the garage. This is the way weekends should be. Either ride or hang out in the garage and work on your trikes. Beats the hell out of running around someone's attic installing DirecTV for them like I normally do on weekends. My Suns beat the Lakers too.

I noticed my brand new PRM skid plate is getting in the way of the linkage on the R so I had to trim it a bit. Not done yet. Ran out of cutting disks for the dremel.

You must have missed my birthday thread. I'm tearing this one down and using certain pieces of it for my project. The engine appears to be running strong enough now that I don't even think I'll open it up first. Just going to clean it up, see if I can repair the case damage to any extent, paint it and run it. The Westcoast will get fresh powder and decals first. The Supertrapp needs some refreshing as does the Durablue. Whatever pieces I don't use will be sold.

Bought it on ebay a couple years back. The guy that made them let his ebay account go right after I got mine. Took forever to get it from him actually. Had to file a paypal claim. He was kicked off ebay not long after that. Screwed a bunch of people. I've only seen it at night once. Maybe someone else can comment on what it looks like.

Nice! I'm always trying to sneak time in the garage but helping out with our 5 month old takes up a lot of my free time.

Doug...you better call off sick a couple days and get that thing wrapped up. I am expecting a ride report on that suspension!

You're already liking that spring without even riding it yet? I hate to say I told you so...lol The front is just as nice.

It isn't just the spring. The shock has been rebuilt by sblt500r as well. All the adjustments on it actually work now.

No ride report anytime real soon I'm afraid. I don't have the hundred bucks or so that I need for a new chain (I won't use anything but DID X-ring on the R). I'm playing catch up on my bills so no trike money right now. By the time I get everything done it will be too hot to ride here.

P.S. The lights on my 350x are still screwed up.

    Amen to that!
I just spent Friday night doing that too. Good music, good beer and some quality wrench time.
