Excitor wire from Stator broke 85' 200x

I rebuilt the top end of my 85' 200x and had it running for a few hours and then nothing. Found out I had no spark and tested everything and finally found out the wire coming from the Stator had broken right where it comes out of the engine. I can't get the assembly out because the screws are stripped. Guess the genious who had it before me took it out and put the stripped screws back in. Anyways if I can get it out. can I just splice wires in there, being it will be in oil when its back together? Any ideas what to do? I'm pretty broke so a whole new part is not ideal. Thanks.

Get the cover off and you can splice the wires inside. Just be sure to solder them and tape and or shrink tube the splice.

Awsome. I guess I'll have to cut into the rubber gasket it's in though to connect the wires. Do you know of something I should use to reseal the holes where the wires will be? Someething that can endure the heat?
