with the oil thing backwards, does it completely starve for oil blocking all flow? or does it just limit the flow?

I could be completely wrong, but I gave

my thoughts on this yesterday.

I wondered if the light spring was there so that if the filter were to get plugged, the oil could bypass the plugged filter??

Like I said, it's just a guess and I may be blowing smoke (like all Roy's motors

J/K) I'd have to take a better look at the install and which way the oil feeds thru to understand it.

I just can't see any other reason for that spring? Otherwise I'd imagine both sides of the oil filter would have rubber seals that sandwiched between the cover and the engine.......

Na Jeff, not going to take the top off just yet, Haven't had time to work on it, been a busy week at work. Tonight (trhursdays) we race RC cars. I'm going to get it finished tomorrow and hope for the best (not to worried about it)

Atleast he will prob make things right with you if its dicked up, 2600 feedback at 100% positive is reassuring.

Well Guys, I just finished putting it back together around 8:00 EST.. It started up on the 3rd kick and ran just fine

I let it run for a little while, off and on the throttle trying to listen to the engine for any foreign noises(esp, the top end).. I'll tell ya guys, it doesn't sound bad at all, in fact, it sounds pretty damn good to me

I took it for a little rip around my field and went through all the gears and it feels tight, with plenty of power

It even starts back up nice and easy after riding it for a few minutes... I think I'm going to luck out here after all

But you never know

^ Oh sure, it sounds good NOW. But wait until the oil filter that was probably in right and "fixed" and put in backwards by you - starves the topend with oil

Read your manual, double check your chit and your good

I've got chit to fix both Sat and Sun if you want to bring it by, rip the track and do a compression test. I'd like to hear it anyhow.........

I'll give you a call in the AM or call me and MAKE SURE I ANSWER or RESPOND!!

Hopefully this is like my 86 motor that I can't kill

Well, I guess I could run it low on oil or install the filter backwards but that wouldn't be any fun

I actually double checked it before I put any oil in it, I pulled the cover off and low and behold it said right on the filter, (TOWARDS COVER)

Just for craps and giggles, I checked the filter that I took out of it and there wasn't any markings on it at all!.. I'll bring it with me DC to show ya, I'll call you around noon time

Just got back from DC's house. we did a compression test on it and it came up 192psi

DC thinks I did really good on this engine which is very reassuring... Only thing is it needs a clutch! It slips a bit, and we couldn't adjust it out.... Oh well

Any NOS motor or near NOS motor will always need a clutch. You cant just buy a new engine and run it. You should always crack it open an look at that stuff.

yep...clutch fibers are gonna be crap. clutch springs are gonna be weak. Valve springs are gonna be weak. the list just keeps going.

That's why i hate those adds that say..."ready to run"...uh...no.

Hey DC, just got an email from that site that I ordered the clutch cable from, and they told me it was discontinued WTF!!. Looks like I need some other options

Look for Motion Pro, or get MY CABLE OFF YOUR 350X!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your clutch should be here Thursday or Friday and hopefully we'll get it done right away - ok??

Yea, it was, biker "douche" bandit. I figured I'd get ya an OEM... I'll look into the Motion Pro one.... I'm on vacation all this week, so any time after it comes in is ok with me
