Can you give us a little more info on the carb?
A flat slide carb is always a good upgrade for the R. But you don't want to go too big on the millimeter. And I like to run 3psi in my tires.
like he said ,flatslide is an improvement over the stock. i have one too on my 85r.
what size carb are you looking to get? the bigger you go, the powerband will be moved up too so you shoul really think about it. 36mm is a good overall size for this bike but you can go to 38mm even 39mm but dont suggest it. as far as the razors, you can run them about 10 psi is good. i had them on my 85r, but dont like them for this bike. they are bulkier in size compared to holeshots... just dont look right. but work well.
Ok thanks on the help,so 36mm would be good to run?how would I know what size it is?I know nothing about carbs.I put it on and it doesn't run like it sould, and smokes a lot more.help please!thanks!!!!
I would run a 38mm on even a stock bike. Its a huge improvement and ideal for the bike! Id recommend Keihin Air Stryker 38mm PWK!

The has not been siting I ride every chance I get.I asked the guy I got it from and he don't know any thing about it.all I know I is it is mikuni, don't know what the jets are.
You might want to consider checking the jetting on the new carb before you do very much riding with it. If it's not right you can very easily ruin your engine top end (if not more).
Getting the jetting right is an art too, get with someone who's done it before if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself.

anyway you can get a pic of the carb?
i think alot of the guys are thinking that the flat slide carb your talking about is a keihin.
mikuni carbs are in my experience a little touchy (depending on model), but they can be good carbs if set up properly i would need to see a pic of the carb.
and as for size, you would measure the inside of the engine side of the carb. (not the air filter side, the reed side)
you can also go to sudco.com and find out more about your carb.

Hey guy what's up? Here's some pics of the carb.I took it off and put the stock one back on,so any more help?
Honestly, without knowing what size it is no one can give you any sort of accurate info. Just measure the opening of the inlet (2nd picture) in millimeters and that will be half the battle.
I have run a 39mm PWK Keihin on a 250R with just a pipe and cut head on it without any issues. It just needs to be jetted right.

its a mikuni TM flatslide used on the lt lineup for suzukis ,34mm for the lt250r and 38mm for the lt500r ,very poorly designed outdated carb ,honestly i would ebay it and get yourself a 38mm pwk airstryker keihin ,as mentioned even on an unporteded 250 it will be a big overall improvment plus you wont be chasing the jetting all over the place like the mikuni
