250r Chain question/suggestions

How often are you guys adjusting your chains?

Also, what brand chains have you guys had good luck with....as far as something that doesn't stretch out easily. I think if I could actually ride my trike for several hours at a time without stretching the chain out mid-ride.....then I may be able to keep it from derailing.

I don't mind adjusting it for each ride, but I'm NOT bringing tools to adjust it on the fly. Thanks.

I've had excellent luck with DID X-ring chains. Adjust it once and forget about it.

I will ONLY use D.I.D. x-ring chains on my R. My other trikes I'm not quite as picky about.

I had a 100hp+ sportbike that I wheelied every time i took it out and the x-ring chains are awsome

I bought one of those red KMC chains off ebay. Haven't ridden it yet so I'll have to get back to you about stretching haha

I tighten the chain on my 250r whenever it starts to get loose and i am not realy picky about what kind of chains i use.As long as you keep your chain tight and greased you should be fine with any brand chain.

I try to always run o-ring (or sealed) chains. They're just better.

I keep my chains tight and greased and they still get too loose mid ride. That's what I'm saying, I'm not packing tools to adjust the chain in the woods in the middle of my ride. Before rides = yes. While riding = no.

I'm going to check everything out this weekend, but at this point I'm thinking of shimming the sprocket and buying an X-ring chain.

When looking for a chain - look at the specs - the higher the tensile strength rating of a chain - the less it will stretch over time. Also - keep in mind - I think you replaced the rear sprocket - did you replace the front one too? If not - do so - they are cheap - and if it is old - it will wear your chain out early and make it stretch!
