    Auto X

Hey guys, I am kickin around the idea of turning a 1984 200X into an auto X aka 200X with 185/200S engine. I know it has been done quite a few times. If anyone has details to share, articles, pictures, hyperlink that shows how the steps, etc I would appreciate it. I guess I should check the classifieds if anyone is interested in trading a 185/200 engine for my 200X engine. Thanks!

I just did that not too long ago, engine is a bolt in, but you need the 200x rubber intake manifold from the engine. Other then that fab a brake pedal and your good to go... Ill find my thread on it and post a link

I did one for my son with a 185 engine. The brake setup took the most effort. Find you a 350X brake pedal, and slip that over the footpeg mount. (get smaller seals for it first and tap it for a zerk fitting) I then went to NAPA and got some throttle linkage for a heavy truck with some all thread and jam nuts. Presto.... easy cheap brake pedal installation. You will need to bend it a bit because the clutch cover on the auto bike is much wider. I'll post a link to my thread for you.

Easy swap. I used the 185 harness so I need to put a x plug on to run the headlight and I used the 185 pedal (custom freak pedal) for the breaks and everything works good .... except the motor smokes alot so I got a 200 cylinder boared 50 for it.

They are a very cool bike and a ton of fun.. Very easy swap too.. I helped with Killer's and autoXer's builds.. The brake lever is the biggest hump to clear.. So far we've found the 185/200 lever to be the best.. Just drill it bigger to fit the foot peg post, and bend it alittle to come out from the motor, we also had to grind it alittle where the linkage goes on it.. The sprocket cover also has to be cut down to clear the frame but its not a big deal... Also some times the left foot peg has to be spaced out like 1/4 of an inch to clear the shifter shaft.. On my brothers we had to but on autoxers we didnt? Not to sure way on that?

Something id realy like to see on an autoX is bar mounted rear hydrolic brakes.. Get a master off of a sled or a newer 4by4 that has a left side master and run a braided line back to the caliper.. I think it would be trick to have both brakes on the bars...

Whats wrong with your X motor?
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it.

I have the X motor out and is a complete running engine. Exhaust studs are busted off. I have a brand new clutch for it too. I am actually gonna use this bike for towing my acreage mower and the automatic to me is a little easier to work with.
