Piston kit, top end gasket set, and have the cylinder bored. You need to take yours aparts first and see what size piston is in it and how much it needs bored out.

The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it.

might aas well get a wesico piston. it's about $40 more than stock but it gives you more performance due to upping the compression to 10.5:1.

What are your symptoms? You can go far into it or you can half arse it.

Not necessary but just a piston/ring job may not fix the smoking depending on the condition of the cylinder. Smoking can also be your valve seals as well.

I feel like I'll end up smashing my head against a wall but here goes:

If it's smoking bad then it's tired. I highly doubt it just by chance broke a ring or ripped a valve seal. It most likely needs a good topend rebuild. Bore, piston and rings, valves inspected and changed if needed. Cam journals inspected, cam itself measured and like Louis said in a nice way, I'll say it another way; anyone who does a top end and does not change the 25 year old timing chain and guides is just not thinking or broke.

You also need to clean the oil rotor in the clutch case and make sure the oil pump is within spec. They are about 45$ brand new, how can you beat that? I'll be over 60 by the time I need another oil pump.....

You don't have to spend hundreds on an aftermarket cam and springs, exhaust and a bigger carb and all that crap (unless you want to) but at least bring it back to stock and in fresh reliable condition.

You guys need to stop asking what needs to be repaired until you take it apart and inspect it. It's a question that cannot be answered properly by anyone but the guy who tears it down.
