    yamaha yz490,yfz450,3 wheeler.

    heres the deal.im getting a 1986 yz490 dirtbike from this kid( he's to light in the arse to kick it over)the kids brother has a 2006 yfz450 with a bad engine(really big hole in it).my question is.if you were me and wanted to convert one of them into a 3 wheeler,which way would you go about it.

    its worth getting one... The YZ frame will have the head tube too high and have too much rake to make a decent handling trike..

    The 490 would be easier, a rebuilt 450 would be a much better engine.

    well just got off the phone with both of the guys.its gonna cost nadda for the 450 and 490.wheeling and dealing,lol.but the sad thing is,im trading my 200x for the 450.i know guys,but its for a better cause.

    im getting the complete yz490 that has a good running engine and complete yfz450 with a bad engine.

    I would leave the YFZ as a quad or part it out.. and use the 490 engine for the trike... a 490 fits in a Tri-z frame like it was meant to be..

    the build starts

    i picked up the 450 and 490 yesterday.so the build starts.im going to put the 490 in the yfz frame for now,then i will eventually convert the quad into a trike.

    update

    well today i pulled the engine from the yz.the way this engine fits under the yfz its like it was meant to be under there.minor mods required.the hardest thing so far is getting the pipe to fit up right.got a question.will it hurt the pipe performance if i bend it a lilttle .here's a couple new pics.
