    carbuerator trouble?

    hey guys I have a 200 Honda and it wont start I have left it set probably for a year now. (sorry I just have been to busy to ride it ) It ran fine before. I drained all the gas put new gas in. When I put gas in at the spark plug it will run till it is gone. When I spray carburetator cleaner through the air intake it runs for a little bit. It acts like it is not getting any gas. I took the carb apart and sprayed everything, the throttle slides very good in the carb, but when i open the drain screw at the bottom nothing comes out. Where is my gas? thanks

    Your float valve is plugged. The entire carb needs torn apart and cleaned. Remove all screws (jets) and clean them very good. Remember to count how many turns it took to remove all jets so you can install them in the exact spot it will save you time.

    take the petcock and fuel line off and clean it up just incase that is plugged also.

    The little needle that the floats lift up is stuck.

    I put a new jet in both idle and main and never counted how many turns. Why is that needed? :oops: I runs great though

    u might just want to rebuild your carb. Mine was getting enough gas so i rebuilt it and then it ran fine. Your needle could be bent and u might need a new seat its very in exspensive to get these parts like $10 for them if your not able to do it take it to the honda shop they will do it for u.

    yes, the air screw is the only one you need to worry about. The idle screww is only a stop for the slide, and doesnt even need to come out.

    So I was right, just a typo on his part. I knew that about the mix screw. Also, nice trix there! I am loking for a 110 for my daughter

    Thanks guys for the information on the carb., repair. Still it is not starting.
    Again I took the carb apart, took the float off, took out the needle valve,
    ( there was debri on the rubber stem ) I cleaned it all took out the other screws that have the 6 little pin holes on 2 sides cleaned them put float back on. Now when I open the screw to drain the carb., gas does come out. So now I have gas in the carb but it still wont run. I called my mechanic and he said maybe the valve is stuck or needs set,
    What do you guys think?

    this would be your pilot jet.

    this jet is responsible for off idle to 1/4 throttle fuel flow. although you say you cleaned it out (and i don't doubt you) the hole down the center of the jet is very small and easily clogged. additionally if it sat for some time (over 6months) as the fuel evaporated it left behind a film that when inside the small jet reduces it's (the hole's ) actuall size. you may be able to see through it but it may not be opened up enough. try soaking it in comercial strength car cleaner (found at auto stores) for 24hrs this will remove any film in the jet.

    this is just a suggestion without seeing it first hand i am only making a educated guess to your problem

    I have a suggestion. Obviously it's probably somthing in the carb and you most likely know this but i'll post in anyway. I know nothing about you'r engine or much about engine's or carb's anyway, but if the carb is getting gas and is clean and working right you could be sucking air somwhere between the carb and intake??? That's what happened to my bike the other day.
