any 20oes big red owners ever have this problem, it pretty much just showed up?? i have not taken that cover off yet. I have to use my foot it so hard to move

has anyone taken had this problem and taken apart the subtransmision. I have a spare 200es that I can swap parts from, but dont know which ones. The knob is so hard to move I have to put a box-end wrench on it to move it. It feels smooth when I do it, just alot alot of resistance. What gives???!!!

    any ideas peeps?

my bike is like that at time.
what i usally do while the bike is non moving, i put the bike into first gear then slide the gear shifter to reverse. not a good thing to do but it works. also if your bike is idoling to high it will be hard to shift to.

i worke don a 125m that had a stuck sub-trans, the issue was the lever itself going through the housing had a lot of rust nad so did the shafts, I would take the sub-trans off the bike, soak it in chemicals ro kill all the rist and see where your at. you may need to do some light sanding to smooth certain parts out and I used wheel bearing axle grease to to put the lever through the hole. there's an i-ring that probebly needs to be replaced there too. (can be had at most hardware stores for $.085). before you assemble it, soak all the internal parts in a bowl of oil for about 10 min, then w/o whipping it off assemble it. this ensures the sub-trans stays lubericated correctly till oil can make it to there. also you may consider a full oil change and filter cleaning before running the bike.

it's not hard nor complicated. ksit take your time and you can do it.

I sometimes wish the bike a filter element, not just a screen!

yea me too! the didn't sue a filter till the 250es/sx series. not sure if the 350x had a filter or a screen either. but the 250es/sx does have a element.
