    Big red too hot?

How would I know if my red was running too hot. I got worried today because I just put a new pipe on it and changed the main jet and needle setting. The paint on the pipe started to bubble and peel after about 10 min of riding. It seems to be running rich but I don't want to burn anything up--does that sound normal?--Also, she dies when I let off throttle. Most likely a carb adjustment?

Yeah kinda does sound like your running a bit rich. I don't think any harm would come if you jetted her down a bit. However after riding a while in the summer they can get pretty hot with out liquid cooling.

Personally, I would put the needle back and stay with your currect jet set. Then, see how she runs.
A friend once said, lean the idle jet, fatten up the main jet. Mine seems to run great now 8)

when I first put the pipe on, I left the original jet (95)--She ran way hot with that set up. I changed to a 108--should I try putting the needle back where it was with the old jet? I would like to stay with the larger jet. How can I accomodate it?
