    85 200x valve adjustment ( new guy)

Finally got my hands on a 3 wheeler. I had a 350x years ago but had to let it go. I bought this 200x for $250.00 so you can imagine the shape. It smoked so bad I used it to fog out mosquitos. Pulled the motor and it had a new piston in it but the rings were lined up perfectly :?: Put it back in and got it running (smokes a lot less) I do not know the valve setting for this bike, at TDC I set the valves closed and then backed them out a quarter turn on the screw, is this right or do they need more play? Please let me know, thanks.
