I went out to the track tonight without a 3wheeler. I was busy until way to late and didn't have time to go get my truck go back home and load up the wheelers etc.. So I just went to watch and BS. It wasn't long before I was riding one of Dan's little monsters. I think that I rode two 140's and a 125. It is hard to believe how much difference there is between the different machines. Everyone sets them up differently according to rider size, engine size and riding style. It's actually pretty neat to get to ride different machines just to see what it's like. Mine is a built 74cc Honda and that's all I usually ride when I go out. The 125 was my favorite. The bigger ones are more physically demanding than the smaller ones. Mine is built for topend power and is unforgiving if you get out of your groove and let the rpm's drop too much. The 125 was about the same as mine on the top end but was very forgiving on the bottom and very smooth through the entire power range. Good stuff!

The stock hubs are too big to go inside a cart rim they have to be turned down to fit , if you want to keep a stock set just pick up a set on ebay to turn down, the tires are 12 tall and 8 wide on 6 inch wheels [pricey] and big unless you are running a big motor or want them for show , you really need to find someone who races carts and pick up some that are setting around their shop,

That's the thing. I don't know anyone in my area that races carts that may have a set of cart wheels and tires that I could buy. At the current time my only source is ebay. I'll have no problem finding a machine shop that can turn down the stock hubs but finding the wheels and tires are problem. I guess I'll just keep on shopping.

From what I saw on one of your early posts you would like even tires to start with and stagger tires later , do you care about size and shine of wheels [show] or go , some of us may be able to hook you up if we know what you really want, PM me so I know what you want and I will see what we can find, it may take a few days

Race Demon....Thanks for the offer on the wheels and tires. Right now I'm dealing on a complete set of kart wheels and tires. If it works out I'll have two 12x8x6, one 11x6x6 and one 10.5x4.5x6. Then I'll have all that I need as far as wheels and tires to run two rears the same size and then a smaller LR.

Question Need a engine! Need recommandations!

Well I still getting everything together to start the build. One main part of the build that I'm needing is a engine. Any recommendations on what I should get...125cc or 140cc, Pitster Pro, Pirranha, Lifan and where can I get it? I'm looking for a engine that will bolt right up to the 70 frame without any mods. I've been talking to my cousin that got me hooked on these 70's and we've been talking about going with a 140cc Pirranha engine. Not sure so any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

I weigh 160 lbs and the 125 seems the best for me. The 140 was just a little too much for my weight. I have a built 74cc on mine and I can make it work but I have to run it in a lower gear and wind it to the max. I ran the 125 in 4th gear and it pulled me around the track extremely well. I would guess it depends a lot on your weight and the size of the track you'll be running on.

When I was back in Ohio the first of August I rode my cousins 70 that he has a Pitster Pro 125cc motor in it. It was nice. I weigh about 175ish and his 70 was getting me around pretty good. I was just ripping around in his yard and that's all it took for me to be hooked on building one. Not sure how a 125cc will pull me around a track since I haven't rode on a track and there isn't a track that I know of in my area. From what I've been finding the price difference between the 125cc and 140cc motor is not that much. Just don't want to use a 125cc engine wishing that I used a 140cc plus you guys that have built these Mad 70's knows what works.

As Daddio and Turbo said, the 140s are a handfull , you can pick up about anything you want on ebay,[crf50 motor], 140 or less should bolt up without too much trouble, if you get a motor with the klx top end [angled cam cover] you will see more problems, they are mostly 150 160cc motors, as you go you will find some problems with tank clearance and cable lenth, let us know as you get there and we will try to help, buy the way the last I saw pirana was out of 140s, you should consider an oil cooler for a 140 , that means cooler, lines, mount, and a set of ports off the motor, something to consider when you buy the motor

Thanks guys for the responses and feedback. Still gathering information on the 125cc & 140cc motors. Would this 125cc engine be good for the 70 and bolt right in without any issues?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Also...at what point do you need to run a oil cooler and are they needed? Thanks again.

Thats what we call a front clutch motor, it looks complet, it would work just fine, I would look for a rear clutch like the pirrana, they still have a couple complet kits. my motors are older like the one you have shown, I am tring to go to oil coolers on all my trikes, any size. racing these makes alot of heat and is hard on piston and rings, thats why you see some of us switch trikes back and forth tring not to over heat the motor, some even use temp probes
