nothing wrong with the motor but last I looked Wholesale-cycle still had 125s in stock, the motor you show costs a bit more, then it will need a carb, the one shown is small, the inner rotor works good for light guys but kills torque for heavy riders, I have been thinking about the pirrana 125 just don't want to spend the cash right now . The hubs have never been hard to come up with so thats why we do them that way[ to each his own ] I use my turned down hubs and run snow blower tires that look like holeshots in the snow, and keep a stock set just in case, You can also see the rear tires on my GRAVE DIGGER are about stock size but run cart wheels

    Question

Race Demon....Are you talking about this Piranha 125cc motor?

    http://stores.wholesale-cycle.com/-s...2C/Detail.bok#

I weight about 175lbs so I'm not sure if I need a 125cc or 140cc motor. The reason I was considering the inner rotor 5oz kit was because my cousins 70 that I rode that has a 125cc Pitster Pro motor had the 5oz rotor installed. He also had a mikuni 26mm carb and bigger intake. So if I was to go with the Piranha 125cc motor I would want to install this carb and intake?

Should I install a 5oz rotor kit on the 125cc motor based on my weight or just run the stock 2lb setup?

Thats a good 125 at Pirahna, it comes with a good carb and intake, I think you said you were around 200 pounds if so I would stay away from the inner rotor, the best intake for fit I have seen is really short from Dr atv and would need ported and the cooling fins on the cylinder modified to use it, I am running their 140 on one of mine straight out of the box with very little mods to get it running

From my experience with these I think that you would be very happy with the piranha 125 for your weight. I weigh a little over 160 and I am able to run racedemons 125 around the track in 4th gear. The other guys run it in 3rd to keep the power up. I can run it in 3rd also but the power is about perfect in 4th. I could easily run with the other guys like that and I didn't have to run the snot out of it in the process. For me the 140 is just a little too much for my weight. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't run as fast of lap times as I could with the 125. Now like racedemon said every one is different and has different preferences on engine size, ,tire size ,offset, gearing, stagger and on and on. This is my first year doing this and my machine was built to compete in the stock 70 class at TF09. I built it before I knew about these guys racing. Mine was built for straight line racing but I adapted it for this type of racing. It does very well for a 74cc engine. If I'm really on my game I can easily run with these guys. I can't easily pass any of them but then on this track you have to look for someone to bobble or get out of their line in order to pass anyway. I am considering a 125 for next year and I'll just keep my current engine for a back-up. I have some really good video from last night that I am working on getting up.

Race Demon....Is this the intake you're talking about for the 125 Piranha?

With the 140 Piranha what mods did you have to do to get it running in the 70 frame? I checked Wholesale -Cycle and it looks like they don't have the 140 instock right now but the 125 Piranha is on sale ending today. I still have a lot of work to do on the rebuild of the 70 so I have time until I need a motor. I'm wanting to get the rebuild completed as a roller then do the motor last. Thanks to everyone with the feedback and support.

Most of the front sprockets are the same, there are some odd balls out there but you don't see them much, As far as mods to put the motor in [125 and 140] most will need the opening where the motor went in the frame trimmed slightly, some 125s will drop right in, my 160 was a real pain, I would put it all together then paint or powder coat, the oil coller mount needs drilled and or welded, and the tank will need a dent put on the under side where the top of the carb wants to hit, I would use the intake that comes with the motor, if at all posible the one from Dr atv will work better in some ways but needs alot of porting and cooling fin grinding, as I said most of this is easy to see when you start putting everything together

Sorry turbo. I've been distracted lately. Women. I will get them up. We did have some tight laps last time out. The track was freaking awesome.
