hey guys can you told me basically wich mods you do to your trikes???

-I know you put go kart rims and tires... but what size of rims and tires?? about what diameter you turned down the hubs?

-with upgrade engine with clutch do you put the brake to the foot like a big trike??

-What kind of modification you need to put a bigger engine in these go fast trike??

Cause i've just bought a 84 atc 70 with my frien Yamada on the forums here and we are going to tuned it a bit and the kart tires and wheel combo is my part of the job

Ok Camy, here we go , the hubs are stock hubs turned down to 3.150", then redrilled to fit cart wheel pattern, use 5\16 grade 8 bolts, tire size changes buy what we can get, rider weight, and set up , most use ruffly 1.5"stagger {size difference between left and right rear} 5 or 6 inch wheels are no nothing to worry about. next is the clutch and brake, we put the brake where the front brake lever is and run the clutch like a normal trike. then comes the BIG question motor type and size, most of us use the pit bike China copy motors, for about 300 to 600 dollars you can a complet motor, carb and electronics, and a crf50 pit bike bike with a couple heat and bend mods and there you go, there are some tank clearance problems to deal with and if you use the 140cc and up motors you find alot problems with the motor mount area . Fitting just takes some time and mods with grinders, files, and spacers

Nice thanks alot! I'm a machinist so it's not goiing to be a trouble to do the rear hubs... now i need to find kart wheels and tires... then i can work the engine... we will stay on a stock engine for begining... maybe upgrade with a 125 later...

We need to replace the clutch and the brakes... The clutch is slipping when the engine is warm

    My Hubs For kart wheels

Well I worked with the local machine shop with machining the stock 70 hubs to work with the kart hubs I bought to work with the kart 6" wheels I bought. Here is what I've come up with:

    [IMG][/IMG]

What I did was had the triangle part of the main spline machined off and then had a channel cut into the spline to accept the 1/4 key stock which will mate to the 1/4 key for the kart hubs. Now this is the way I wanted it so that all I have to do to change the rear wheels is swap the complete hub. $90 machine time and $35 for the kart hubs and key stock. I don't have a lot of time or equipment to do things myself so this is what I came up with. I ordered my Piranha 140cc motor tonight so I need to know of any fitment issues with the intake and the tank. Thanks! Things are slowly coming along. Frame, stock wheels and a few other parts are headed out for powder coating next week. Getting close!

that is what i thought would be a good way of doing the mod but i was going to make a splined sleeve and use a kart hub for a 1 1/4" axle

hub looks good henry! as far as fitment issues with the tank ive seen two ways of doing it...one big specht on here did was to cut the bottom of the tank and make a recess in it(takes a little work but looks good) the other which is what i did was on www.dratv.com they sell turn out and low bend intakes for the bigger carbs..seems to work pretty good sometimes with those intakes you have to grind a few of the fins on the back of the motor down a little to get the bowl to clear... just look and see what carb and intake comes with the motor kiser on here didnt have to much trouble fitting his and didnt have to change andything.. good luck! if ya want some pics i can take some and post them for ya

BAN ONE....if you could send me some pic's of the carb intake. Pictures always help. The Piranha 140cc motor comes with a 22mm Mikuni carb. I've heard some people install the 24mm Mikuni on the 140cc and it seems to make the motor run better. Is there any truth to that and would it be worth it to upgrade to the 24mm carb from the get-go? Thanks!

okay ill get ya some pics here this weekend... if it comes with a Mikuni carb it should be good kiser had some off name that came with his and didnt work well at all backfire and always missing...switched i think to a Mikuni 24 and hasnt had any trouble with it(except for his ability to ride it lol kidding) but i am pretty sure that i have a 22mm on the 125 thats in my bike so i would say the 24 would work good on the 140.
