That is a cool one for sure. There was a lot of activity going on in that one that isn't obvious at first. The incidents between Scott and Turbo are a little more obvious after you watch it a few times.
I counted nine riders at one point on that one. Good stuff!

Sooner or later, If you ride, we all do something we wish we hadn't, but it seemed to be the thing to do at the time . We don't always see what the other guy saw

You're right about that. With that many guys on the track I'm surprised there wasn't any bigger incidents.

Randy got the hubs turned down and we drilled and tapped them today. We're ready to go racing for sure now. I have a cl carb ready to replace the one on mine if I can't get the thing jetted right.

That is exactly what we used. I had a bunch on new ones and the heavy duty washers that go with them. Hartley drilled the hubs to clear the screw heads on the back side of the rims. It worked out great.

I'll post up pics after I get home from work.
The hubs are atc 70 hubs that have been turned down on a lathe to make them 3.10 in. round so that they fit into the go-cart wheels. Then you drill them to the bolt pattern of the cart wheels and thread the holes for the bolts. The two piece cart wheels have small screws and nuts holding them together. So with those we drilled the hub so that the screw heads would go into the holes and eliminate the need for a spacer or washers so the hub would clear the screws. Is that a better picture of what we did?
With this setup it is very easy to switch back and forth between stock wheels and slicks. You just take the hub nut off and swap out the wheel / hub assembly.

OK, that explains it pretty nicely. Some of the other 70s seem to be running something different from the stock 70 hubs. I was thinking of running a 30mm go kart axle on my 70 so I could get the adjustability of the rear axle so I could either center the rear axle in the carrier or run it more offset for better sliding in the turn. It seems the inside diameter of the rear bearings is 30mm. I have been trying to shop for some 30mm hubs also.

We make our rear spacers out of alum. or plastic what ever we have around, once you know the set up you like most guys just run it all the time, 1/4" to 1" on the left, 2" to 3" on the right . depending on the way you like it and your wheel offset

Some of them are running the cart wheels and hubs on the front. I think they are six inch wheels. this gives them a lower stance in the front for better stability in the corners. most of them are running spacers on the outside wheel. The bigger the spacer the looser the machine is in the corners. Also if you are a heavier rider you'll need a little more spacer to loosen it up more. You can clearly see the spacer in this pic.

    With slicks.

    Turned down hub.

Outside of hub drilled out for the two piece wheels.

Two piece wheels, you can see the small allen head screws that hold them together.

    One piece wheel.bolted to hub.

Hartley's "1upfront" trike fitted with slicks. Notice that it has no offset on it but it has the stagger on the tire size. Turn Left!
