I know its not a trike, but I'm looking at possibly picking up a BW 200 off craigslist. Just wondering if anyone else has one and what thoughts are on them. I hoping to also get into a dirt bike in the near future, so would it be a waste getting the BW too?

yes big wheels have a nasty chain setup and is almost imposable to keep adjusted.
they are heavy and under powered I had one when I was about 15 and it was cool because its all i had . there clumsy also.... just my .02

You have to remember what a bw is. It is not a dirtbike. It is not a trike. It will go through mud and creeks. It will go in moderate amounts of snow. It will not go anywhere fast. Plastic fenders and tank will not rust. The 85 is a kick start only engine, 86 and later is electric. They are fun within their limitations. I really like mine. They make a neat trail putter that will pull a nice hill. They have a manual clutch.

I almost forgot what a great machine they are in the snow I will give you that ... probably would be a good 3rd or 4th machine but as a "only" machine personally i would pass

I agree they are fun, but not as an only machine. Don't let the two wheels fool you, they are not tossable like a dirt bike. They are heavy and it is tough to get the front wheel off the ground. They are easy to learn on for a bike, and good for trails and fun in the snow. If the mud gets too deep, they exhibit some strange handling characteristics. You will get lots of looks and questions as, depending on where you ride, most people have never seen one.

It must be an '86 as it has electric start and it looks likes its in pretty good shape. I know its not going to preform like a dirt bike, but I was thinking about it for the novelty of having it. A friend of mine use to have one years ago, he said it would be good for riding on 3 wheeling rides, but I'll need a real dirt bike to keep up with that crowd. I haven't really ridden dirt bikes before, so I'm looking for a 250 to start with so I don't kill myself!
