    84 big red no compression

hey guys, i recently aquired an 84 big red, guy said everything was redone but the exhaust stud got stuck he drilled it and went too far, so now it has no compression, i was looking at a head off another 200 and i don't see how it could make it loose compression or how you could drill it that far without notice. what do you guys think all help is appreciated,

i 'm dealing with a "goof with a drill" on my 200x right now ... thankfully my goof just drilled crooked and not too far. If the bit entered the chamber than it would not build compression. you should be able to feal/hear it come out the hole?

thats always a possibilty, i would check the hole first, if u feel air streaming in and out.. your screwed. i dont know if u could plug it or not. i doubt it.

Make sure the manual decompression is not stuck and the valves are adjusted correctly.

it does feel like it has a tiny bit of compression and air is going out the exhaust, but it is all going some where fast, and have any of you guys just taken the top end off with the motor still in the frame?

I just did it and actually it's not too bad. Go get some nuts that fit the head bolts. Double nut them so that they are tight and spin out the long studs that connect the head and jug to the case... once they are out you can remove the head quite easily. Just make sure everything is clean you dont want crud falling into they cylinder or getting into the oil passage....

You dont need to remove the studs, just tilt the head and slide it out. If its a 200, i have a good head i'll sell you cheap.
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it.
