Making a Flat Track Oval Track

I have a large backyard (300' X 100') that is grass. How do you kill the grass and get the grass to die and not come back? I don't have any heavy equipment soo. I'd like to do this without buying 100 gallons of weed b gone or something like that. Is there an old tractor implement I could drag behind my 200 to make an oval track? I have been riding the "oval" in the grass on my Tecate. The grass is coming up, or the Tecate is tearing it up.. But at this rate it will take forever.
If you have any ideas, let me know..

    Thanks,
    Doug

Ride on It, slide on It spin on It. Your tires will shread through the grass then you will have dirt. I just went through the same deal. I had some non aggressive tires on my 450, It would just spinn out In the grass. I sent my boys out to ride, as they will ride ALL DAY If the gas supply doesn't run out Now I can get a grip on the dirt where the grass once was.

The problem with that is I just want to keep the oval bare.. not the whole back 2 acres.

    Thanks for the great ideas.

    Giant rake

A piece of 8ft chainlink fence with cinderblocks will take it to dirt in no time. Here is a description.
    Chain link 8x8
make a bridle to tow it square
stack blocks or anything heavy on top
    drag
It will also take out unwanted bumps and washboard ,and pop the little rocks up. It makes an Awesome rake for that application and will work great for maintenance.

Awesome info guys. I also have about 10 old tires on wheels. I thought about burying them half in the dirt at the inside of the turn on either end. This will be a track for my kids as well. Good idea or dangerous for the younguns?

less things to run into the better IMO. Shouldn't be too bad in the inside of the turn tho... but with kids there is always that chance

you'll save yourself a heck of alot of diggin' too!

I know this probly dont meet the EPA regualtions and tree huggers will claw your eyes out. But, spray gas with a bug sprayer around your track. Then light it on fire. When the fire burns out, do a couple of laps. The grass will shed like newspaper.
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Look at some of the atc70 flat trackers videos that I posted in the mad 70's thread. These guys are good but can't always make the turn and wind up on the infield or running over the cones. I would use something that is soft and movable.

Just stock up on a case of edog and paint the outline a few times like a football field. In no time flat draggin it you will have your track. I agree with the others no barriers the little ones will find a way to hit them, let them slide out its more fun.
