1986 tecate overheating

hey guys as soon as i start my bike and let it run for 30 seconds my coolant pours out the over flow and i can hear it boiling in the radiator. the right side if that makes a difference. i just need to be pointed in the right direction thanks

sounds like a head gasket leak to me.

it isnt running long enough to boil, you're hearing air being pushed into the coolant system.

thxs for your reply but it is a new head gasket but yeah i was thinking it was the head gasket is there anyway i could buy a stronger one?

The head or jug are probably warped. Take the head to a machine shop, they will be able to tell you if it straight.

ok so i tryed it out again today without the rad cap and it worked fine what would that mean? and i have coolant in my base ...... wud that be a cracked cylinder?

Well How is your compression? Do you have a compression tester? I had the same problem with my head gaskets for the longest time. planed head/cylinder and still it does it. So I used what I have used in the past. A small amount of jb weld around the outside of the metal ring. Never blew one yet. I wont even waist my time. Also your head nuts might be loose. Re tourke them. might help. 35-40$ top end kits are expensive after a while.

do those bikes have a thermostat? sounds like a stuck thermostat to me but i havent had the opertunity to work on a tecate yet

yea 250 psi do you guys use the three kick rule or just stop kicking when the needle stops on the comperssion tester? and it doesnt have a thermostat

wow my drag r is only 220 psi and thats set up for race gas

i kick with throttle wfo till needle stops. 210 for me. Though of using race gas. Can you mix gas with race gas to raise octane levels?
