Whats it mean when people say redid top end?

Well i know its with the piston and rings i just wanted to know do they just replace the piston and rings or do they bore it once. If they bore it can the cylinder bore become too big after a while its no longer useable. If this is stupid im sorry. i have noone else to ask im very into motors and my dads not really

well on something like that it all depends on the condition of the motor. a top end rebuild buy most people will be to just hone the cylinder use the same piston and put at a new set of rings and top gaskets on it. but if the motor was in poor condition they may bore it one size put the equal size piston in it with new rings and gaskets. so it all depends on what the motor actually needed. most trikes if runing before can only hone the cylinder with new rings and gaskets. so it all depends......

It usually involves boring new piston and possibly valves, and I think the limit is 2mm over and that's risky, afterthat you can Putin a fresh skeave and start over

you can only bore the cylinder so much then it will need to be resleeved.as for a complete topend rebuild on a say atc 200 engine.new piston and rings, new cam chain with new chain tensioners, new valves, new cam if needed, new rocker arms if needed, new gaskets.it can get a little pricey.

Yes, you can only bore so far before you have to either replace or resleeve.
In my opinion, a new "Top End" consists of, new piston, bore *if needed, rings, valve seals, gaskets, timing chain (if out of spec) and checking cam (4 stroke). I have not dealt with many 2 strokers but reeds, piston, rings, gaskets, bore *if needed.

The honest answer to your first question is simply, it means different things to different people. Never let someone tell you they "redid the top end" and leave it at that. Always ask exactly what they did and if they bored it out, how much did they bore it. As for this question, it really can't be answered because all 125's aren't typical. Different specs and tolerances are used by different manufacturers. You'll have to know what kind of 125 it is and then ask about it specifically and you'll have a lot more luck. Good luck. Hope it works out for you.

Said its on stock bore. Only thing wrong is a dent in the pipe(EVERY 2 stroke ive seen has atleast a dent tho)

I'm not into bikes but that looks pretty decent. You will almost always find 2-strokes having a rebuilt top end. It's like regular maintenance on them

Ahhh .. prolly a nikasil sleeve.. they honed it lite for the new piston, that's the best thing for them cyl's unless you git a re-sleeve.. the way thing's are these day's it might be worth 600-1200 bucs ?

id stay clear away from 2 strokes unless you like rebuilding, you had to ask a wop of questions about rebuilt 2 strokes, do you wana have to go through it every year if you push the bike hard?
