Lately ive been thinking about making a Auto X using a 185s engine if i can find what i need. Has anyone here ever made one and how do they run. If i ever do this project it will be my first trike.

I think it would be cool to make a 185x (200x engine in a 185s frame). It feels weird to me not having to use a clutch.

Only ones that are shaft are 2nd and 3rd generation of the Big Red (200es and 250es), and the 250sx.

Sorry sir, but that's completely inaccurate. Just so we are clear and everyone understnad, the S means "Sport". they made a straight 185 (81-83) and 200(82-84). They also made models like the 200E(82-83) bigred with ho/low gearing, chain drive and no reverse. they also made the 200x and 200m models. so the S meant sport or even suspended cause the 185S had front forks when the straight 185 did not.

200s and 185s are chain drive. the only shaft drives are the 200ES(bigred) and then the 250SX and 250ES (bigred)

he can use the 185 or 200s motor all he wants. if it were me, I'd get a 200 top end for the 185s bottom end and cal it a day. shorter gearing ont he 185 and the bigger CCs ont he 200 will help. also get a 200x cam and piston for that 200 top end.(or get a compelte 200x top end from a 83-85 200x)

it shoudl be easy enough to use. but not usre about fitting it in a different make's frame. you cna try it, but don;t be supprised about having to do some fab work and welding to get things to fit.

our auto x is a 185s with the 200x top end and I really like it. It was easy to put in and we used the 185 brake lever we just had to bend it a little
