What all models of shock front ends will fit on a 1981 185s? Also what do I need to get hubs off of to put on some Douglas aluminum wheels?

dont know about the hubs, but in 1983 185s had shocks, any shocks from the 185s 1983 + will fit. with no mods.
Looking for some smaller style tires like the r's have, just 2 back tires. pm please.
Ok thanks. I know 185s aren't really rare but around where I live they are hard to find. So if I cant find a 83 185s I need to know if the front off a 200 or maybe 125m of something like that would work?
Anybody know the size of the factory rims? I found a set of douglas rear wheels that are 8x8 that I will get if thats stock size. I need to find hubs to make them fit and I need to know what to do to make a douglas aluminum wheel fit the front? Sorry for all the questions, im still not familar yet with all the parts that will interchange.

83 is the last year for a 185s. 200s shock front ends will fit also. The rim size is 8x8, but the stud spacing is 4x130. You can use different rear rims if you have the right rear hubs. You can use 200x rear hubs which are way sturdier than the stock 185s rear hubs and they bolt right on and the bolt pattern is 4x110. You still have to find a 4x130 patternt front rim though. Hope that helps.

I found some wheels on rockymountainatv.com. They say they will fit a 1981 Honda 185s. So they make aluminum 3 lug wheels? Or is this company assuming you changed to 4 lug hubs? I sent an email maybe I will find out something tomorow.

I think that's a 4 lug wheel. It says it fits my 84 200x, which is 4/110.

HMM, maybe they will clarify in the email they send me back. Thats very miss leading by it saying it will fit a 185s if it really dont. If its really not a 3 lug, then I will do like earlier said switch to 4 lug hubs. Now thats got me stumped if I can find a 3 hole wheel for the front that is aluminum. Figuring this out isnt as easy as I thought.

81 is a 3 lug wheel. What are you finding so hard? Do you want all the wheels and tires to be the same lug pattern? 81 185s is just like the honda 110, 3x100. 82 and later 185s is 4x130 as well as 82 and later 110. You can use the rear hubs off an 82 and later 110 honda that will match the 83 and later suspension 185s/200s forks. You have to remember though, the front rim has zero "offset" or the wheel and tire won't be centered on the axle and hub and probably won't work with the front brake set up. You can "offset" the wheels in the rear as much as you want. Do a "search" and find out more information on such things on here, it will help you out alot.

I know its a 3 lug. The company that I was looking at the wheels at dont specify if their wheels are three or four. I want the factory size and offset in a aluminum wheel. I cant get any of the companys to come straight out and say if they have 3 lug wheels or if I need to upgrade to 4 lug hubs on the back. They just say yeah they will fit a 185s.

Go to Dratv .com. They list wheels in 3 and 4 lug and different offsets. Also you can try the manufacturer direct. I think you can buy direct from the maker your front and rear wheels in whatever offset you need. I think you only have to buy in high quantities for custom orders, but 3x100 in zero offset and the rear offset isn't a custom order. Don't make it any harder than you have to. But here is the catch, if you want to use a suspension front end, I'm not 100% sure if either the suspension front axle would work with the hub and brake set up from 3 lug brakes? You better research that before you purchase aluminum 3 lug wheels and find out the 3 lug and 4 lug brake assemblies won't interchange if you buy a suspension front end. It's hard to keep track of all the interchangability and that is why I highly recommend people use the above "search" feature to make double sure what fits and what doesn't.

Thanks for the help. Ok, if I dont go with suspension front end I need 3/100 wheels and the front has to be zero offset. What is the offest of the factory rear wheels?
If I stay undecided on the different front end for a while, Ill just go ahead and order rear wheels then mess with the front later.
Edit: I think the back steel wheels I have on it now are zero offset. I just remebered I swaped sides to make the valve stems be on inside and the tread width didnt get smaller or wider.
