    reed cage gasket

    Howdy,
Working on a beat up 81 250r. I don't have a gasket for the reed cage. Could I use gasket maker? Would that work ok?

    Thanks

Go to your local autoparts store (NAPA) and ask for a sheet of gasket material. Take your scissor and punch and have fun cutting your own one.

Another reed question: My reed assembly has no stoppers on it. Will this damage the reeds? Can I drive it a bit like this?

    Thanks

When you use aftermarket reeds you generally don't use the stock stoppers.

I can send you one, it might be used, but i think it works better than a manilla folder.

Anytime you guys don't have a gasket (unless it's a clearance issue such as something with gears or bearings), use Threebond/Yamabond/Hondabond or silmilar. Coat both sides with a small brush, let it set up and enjoy the spoils . That stuff seals so much better and more reliable than silicone or form-a-gasket stuff.

^ I've already done 3 center cases and only used 1/3rd of the tube
