Howdy,
Working on a beat up 81 250r. I don't have a gasket for the reed cage. Could I use gasket maker? Would that work ok?
Thanks

Go to your local autoparts store (NAPA) and ask for a sheet of gasket material. Take your scissor and punch and have fun cutting your own one.

ahh nice, thanks
Another reed question: My reed assembly has no stoppers on it. Will this damage the reeds? Can I drive it a bit like this?
Thanks
When you use aftermarket reeds you generally don't use the stock stoppers.

Ahh, thanks guys. I bought some gasket paper from CarQuest. Got it on and its kinda running. Going to make a new thread about it. Thanks MagicJames. I found a new one on ebay, just that I have nothing to do *today*
Thanks
Anytime you guys don't have a gasket (unless it's a clearance issue such as something with gears or bearings), use Threebond/Yamabond/Hondabond or silmilar. Coat both sides with a small brush, let it set up and enjoy the spoils. That stuff seals so much better and more reliable than silicone or form-a-gasket stuff.

hondabond is great but is pretty dam pricey. i bought some at the stealership and it was 17 bucks.
^ I've already done 3 center cases and only used 1/3rd of the tube![]()
