    Big Tires on Big Red"

    Anyone run these tires?
i'm putting to rear rims and tires on my 86 250es and i'd like your opinions
I went with a 12 on the front and for whatever reason i'd like to do the same on the rear.
Rocky Mountain seems to have some pretty great prices on tires.
I'm thinking of going with either a Kenda Exocutioner in 27x12-12 or a Carlisle Mud Wolf in the same size.
Anyone have experience with either of these? what tires do you run?

I like the 26" myself though others have gone bigger, I think it's enough..the ITP steel 12x7, 2+5, 4/110 are perfect for the machine. Front and back.. Rocky Mountain has them for around $40/ea.

Then any tire is fair game since the 12" tires are very common..

Others may disagree but I think the Executioner 27x12x12 is over kill..not only is it over-size but it is an extremely HEAVY tire. 36lbs if my memory is correct..that extract weight combined with the extra circumference is gonna be a torque stealer!!

There is no end of combinations possible on the 250ES, have fun with it. This is just one guys opinion, there is no wrong answer!

I actually just order the front tire and rim you recomended to me the other day :-) As I said i'm looking into purchasing rear tires and rims and going with the 12" as per your recomendation. While looking at tires though i noticed that a 27 was not too different in price. thats the only reason i thought of going with 27's
But you bring up a good point about stealing torque which is why i reach out for the opinions of this forum! So you think a 27 with my stock machine will really affect my low-end that much?
ever run a kenda executioner? I really like your rear tires they seem to have a much flatter tread face than most traction lug tires how do they stack up?

also i havent yet received my front tire and rim yet. i noticed you have yours mounted backwards. should i do the same?
also also i put a pair of 2" spacers on her the other day and i couldnt be happier in all aspects! on the way to the trails i can safely take turns in 4th and i would normally be in 3rd and on 2 wheels. I agree that it does require a little more steering input and on slick surfaces it does cause some slip but i think my new front will take the slippage out of the equation.

p.s. i hope your real life seat is more comfortable than the one pictured lol

Actually my getting the tread backward was a mistake..since they mount the tire on the rim for you and I forgot to tell them how to orient it. For this application tell them to load the tire on the rim as if it was a right side wheel..that'll ensure that the tread pattern is pointed correctly.

Now since mine is already the 'wrong' way but it's not a drive wheel I just tell people I meant to do that and it really doesn't matter anyway!

I got a set of 25" Executioners ready to go on my brothers trike..they are crazy heavy tires and the tread lug is insane. Over an inch!!

These Mud Sharks that I have on my rear wheels are 26x12x12 and they are great..too bad they are obsolete. I lucked out and picked them up locally from a guy that was getting out of dirtbike racing. He had stacks of tires given to him by his sponsors over the years. I got 4 of them at that time, 2 went on this machine and the other 2 are still sitting on my tire rack in the shop..

I say experiment a little..don't be afraid to go outside the box a bit. I'd stay under 26", but then I'm 240lbs and like to climb and mud bog..I need the torque. You may feel differently..

of the four tires rocky mtn offers in 26x12x12 the executioner looks like the most bang for my buck, the seem to be the most aggressive. but how heavy is an average tire though? wouldnt more weight = more traction? i get what your saying about torque though. its a shame you wont come off those mud sharks in your shop lol
all these tires in my size look so balloony i feel like flat tread = most ground contact = most traction! but nobody pays me to design tires!
i have the stock size now and i only want to go up from there. and if 27 might be too big, the 26 is the way to go! (i dont hear anyone arguing in here lol)

I'm just excited to get home and mount my tire today! new skinny front tire, 4'' of spacers on the rearend! new plug and fresh oil for all, gonna be like a whole new experience!

I have a set of 27X10X12 mud bitches on the rear and a 27X8X12 on the front on stock 05 foreman rims. The front rim bolted right up and was the correct offset and looks great.

I wouldn't mind parting with the Mud Shark tires, I don't have a lot invested and could sell you my other new pair for say $120..but it's the shipping that may turn you off. Even if I take them to Port Huron, Mich to send them it would likely cost about $60-70. Then you'd have to mount them..

If you found a pair of tires you like on the Rocky Mountain site, then buy their rims then they would install and ship for no charge..I don't know now they do it!

Lol i was just joshin ya about the tires that is a great price though
Yeahh I don't know how they make money at it. I'm in Missouri the tire is in Kentucky, and the rim is in Utah. I didntb know how to specify for them to mount it so they just shipped em loose. If I did they have to ship them together mount them and then ship them again, all for free! I will just get the spoons out and go to work at it. It'll be mounted in no time! I think I'm probably gonna buy the rims first. Sit on em for a while and buy the tires one at a time lol as my budget permits. My ride has a pair of Cheng shins on it right now not in terrible shape so I guess I have the advantage of waiting for a good deal.

Well I just ordered 2 more of those ITP steel rims like you have in black. I have a tire machine at work, plus i could mount it by hand if i had to, so the mounting is not a problem. I did some research on this sight and found that mondexbrute's lifted big red. Those things are huge! theres gotta be a loss of power with those thing wouldnt you think? any way ill just bide my time and wait for the best deal to come along!!!! like i said my current tires arent terrible, they just arent all that badazz!!!!
