r00sty's 250R Project.

Well I've been ridin in the dirt since I was 8 and have always had a soft spot for 3 wheelers, and speed! If it goes fast, I like it, but only after I have made it faster or the fastest it can possibly be!! Up until a few months ago I have had nothing on 3 wheels to make fast or ride in general. So by word of mouth and after months of searching, I got a line on a "83 or 84 Honda 250r with a cracked case", I called the guy and it ended up being a kid who knew nothing about it, except when it was runnin it was fast enough to scare him, his family, and all his friends!! So I asked if it had disc brakes in the front and rear, he said yes, I asked if it was liquid cooled, he said yes, I said SOLD, How much? I hear him yell to his Dad and his dad said, "with all those rims and tires and the extra seat and tank, you should be able to get $300 for it, so he asked me and I said I'd come get it the next day! What a sleepless night that was!!

When I got to his house, about 30 miles away, All I saw was a Banshee in the driveway and a rollin chassis way out back in the weeds, so thats where I headed. I was upset when I saw it, not because of the price, but because this machine wasn't loved or taken care of anymore! The frame sticker told me the story I was lookin for 1986 Honda 250r!! Who knows what would have happened to it if I hadn't found it! Well, from the chassis I proceeded to look around his yard for the rest of it, found a big pile behind what they call a RV, picked up the motor, found the hole in the case easy enough, you could put 4 fingers in it!! Noticed the whole shift shaft housing was covered in JB weld, shift shaft was bent, and shifter and kicker were missing. Well digging through the grass I found some hardware, engine brackets, and the shifter and kicker! I put the kicker on and soon found out it was locked up, no biggie, needs a piston and rings. Put the shifter on and went through all 6 gears, no problem!! So here I am all over this strangers back yard piling up parts and pieces, and don't see anyone anywhere. I pounded on the door several times, but only response I got was barking and growling from the pet pit bull.

Well there I sat, with $300 in my pocket and a pile of 250r at the back of a borrowed truck. About 1/2 hour later 2 kids showed up and asked what I wanted, I asked for the kid I had spoken to, and they said he was in the house sleepin, and went in to get him. I gave him the money asked a few questions, which he had no answers to, loaded up and left.
