where does the throttle cable run

Ok so does the throttle cable go under the tank cover and under the top part of the frame or over the top part of the frame on my 84 ytm 200 e. Also when I pull the cable up by where the two jackets come together (two metal pieces with nuts) the throttle revs up is tthis suppost to happen or does the to screw together pieces need to be tigthen up or loosened. Thanks
