My Budget Build. Saving a 250R and Calfab

I have been wanting to semi retire my current R and put some vintage love into it for awhile now since it is clean and low hour. I have some OEM fenders and a ST kit I want to put on it.

So I want to build a R for the track and trail out of leftover parts that Mosh and I have.
So today I dug into it and decided to get a roller going.
I have a 89 crankk at Sprocks for a rebuild, Jason Hall has a 86 jug of mine that he ported and Mosh has about 3 engines that we are going to use to build one for my new project.
Today, I cleaned and painted a bunch of parts mounted up my shock and swingarm and grabbed a bunch of leftovers for the build. I want to keep this on a tight budget, not real pretty, so I can just ride the wheels off of it.
I still need some radiators and airbox set-up and some brakes. Hopefully I can find some good deals on those.

Here is what we have done to this point. This will take a awhile to complete, but with any luck I am hoping to fire it up in October.

Thanks guys. Thanks fallout for the link.

The seat? LOL...I think I am just going to run my red one, and put my stock one back on my other R.
I have color plans for it later. But for now, just get it up and running.

Ya, that is a nice line up isn't it? They are all Mosh's except the Banshee is mine. The 86 TRX is very nice. He has people offer him money or trades for it all the time. It isn't going anywhere.

I'll keep this thread updated as it comes along. I want to hit the junk yard this morning and see what all I can find.

WOW..I want to give a big thanks to all of you that have offered to help in some way, via posts and PM's..With parts and such. You guys are really awesome!!!

I have a free day off today and plan on getting the roller up and going. Hopefully I can get some pics..Last nite I finished up the bottom end. We are building this chassis, as nice as we can for a retro racer OEM look, which will get Tammy's current, mint, Stock 250R engine. Her machine will get a ported Jason Hall top end witha 38 mil carb and PT pipe, and pretty much remain the same in appearence.

Between the raffle trike and a custom 70 last winter, This will be the 5th machine I have built/building in the last year. I am currently helping my brother build a R for him, and I have a buddy dropping off a 70 chassis for a custom build as well..Needless to say I am a little tired, stressed and overwhelmed, but idle hands and mind equal boredom....

I want to publically thank Kasey, and also offer an appology at this time in conjunction with our private convbersations.

Kasey sent us a bunch of parts, for a good deal, including the titled frame that you see, and between the forum crash last week, and my stress of trying to build all this stuff and round up parts, we lost some communications thru PM's and I got a little impatient with Kasey about a part mix-up added to the lost PM's.
Kasey was good to deal with and understanding with me. So thanks again Kasey!

    Thanks Curt.

Well not much progress, well some..Got a roller going. I am just playing with some ideas on set-ups, and waiting for some more parts deals to develop. Hopefully in January we will have a nice addition to the build.
I purchased a rear caliper from a rust free state, hoping for the best. The last one I got form that region was mint, and needed no work, but unfortunately I could tell right away by the stripped brake pad pin there was going to be trouble, due to corrosion. It also had a siezed caliper piston. So I twisted it on a grease gun at the banjo bolt, got the pistons to push out. Next, I had to drill into the brake pin, careful not to damage the housing, until I was able to disengage the threads from the seized pin. Once that was done then I used a twist out socket to remove the threaded portion. Then I sourced some new caliper parts from my NOS R stash,(which is about down to nothing now.) including a NOS brake piston, and began the rebuild process. Probably have at least 4 hours into saving this caliper. I should have just went with a newer YZ set-up.
Also sourced a new rear rotor.

Just a pic of the roller and the brake caliper pin carnage, not finalized on items yet that we want to run.
