Whats's the best way to get out a stripped bolt? I have a really bad stripped bolt on right on top that "L" shaped piece of metal that holds the filter in place. I've even tried those stripped screw extractors with my drill. But still haven't had any luck. Any secrets you guys got on taking out really bad stripped screws/bolts? I really need to get a new air-filter!

Is it a broken off bolt or are you able to get vise grips on a little piece of it? Can you post a picture?

No it's not broken off, just stripped real bad, sorta looks like a bowl on top. I can take pics of it tonight when I get home and post them in the morning.

try to get a vice grip on it first or get a drill bit a little smaller than the screw and try to drill it out

Slot it with a hacksaw or die grinder with a cut off wheel. Use a flat screw driver.

If you use a screw extractor make sure its a good one, the edges on the cheap ones are dull and don't bite on the whole you just drilled. The cheaper ones look more chrome and the edges are dull and the ones that work better are a high carbon unfinished steel, the egdes look sharp. Spray on some penetrating oil (PB Blaster is the best I've found). Give the screw extractor a few light taps with a hammer so it bite into the bolt, then use a small cresent on the end of the screw extractor, turn it slowly while pressing down. I've never had any luck using a drill, the drill wants to turn to fast, and it just slips out.
