Picked this up during the week, tell me what you think.I plan on stripping it down and going over it in the spring time.It is all complete-let me know of you see anything rare, wrong, or a part thats not right please as I have not owned a tecate since the late 80's.Here's a link to the pictures: http://s733.photobucket.com/albums/ww331/mudbogger/Tecate%20T3/ It has some issues, leaking carb, killswitch nightmare, gaurds missing, alot of little stuff.I havent had the time to really dig into it, will start that process this week hopefully.Any info you guys can give me on this is greatly appreciated.Tell me what you think.:)

It looks like a really good start. Keep us updated on the redo. It looks totally stock except for the silencer, which looks like a DG.

It is a DG, BUT IT appears it is mounted backwards as the DG logo is facing inside and one of the mounts isn't near a mount on the frame. Also, the previous owner must have run the mixture way high as the complete exhaust is coated with oil, needs a good run to burn it out for sure. The expansion chamber looks stock correct?Rear sprocket is a 42 thats stock as well?

Looks like a nice tecate! Seems like more and more are adding these sexy babes to their fleet.

someone used silicone to seal the expansion chamber to the motor :wondering or are you supposed to do this on two strokes?

Geese, looks like you should just ride it now ! Nice machine.
The only 2 things that stand out for me to advise on (I did not look close up on all pictures) is to get a front chain guard and the radiator hose clamp on the carb to intake boot is a no no. It will cut right into the bottom area of the intake boot if it has not already done so.
Yep, lots of Kawi talk recently :) john

I used high temp gasket maker on my exhaust and it worked good combined with proper gaskets.
I do not believe the chain guard is available even though many sites like bikebandit will list them. You can use one off nearly any KX250.
You might want to look at my thread here and add to it if you find some things to fit:

Whats up with the shock? Did you want a new one or just options on what will fit in its place? I know a Yamaha Raptor shock fits but, it gets mounted upside down. BTW nice find I love my tecates

I am open for options on the rear shock, I may for now just send it out to a person who can rebuild it.What a new one go for and who do you recommend for a shock?

You can get a Honda 300EX shock that will pop right in. I had a raptor shock installed before but it was upside down and the bottle was not mounted as the line is short. I guess the Raptor shock may be better but the 300EX shock works well and is an easy install.

I used a 2006 300ex shock mounted upside down! Works great.....
