Remove carb - remove jets - clean jets, re install jets, reinstall carb, give her a go - sounds like a dirty carb problem to me!

The ES carbs are finicky with the smallest bit of crud in them... I had to take mine apart twice and rebuild it to get it running correctly. Also, double check and make certain the jets are correct size. I got a rebuild kit once with the wrong main jet (way too big)

Are you sure what machine you have? There wasnt a 200ES in 1985... 1985 was the first year of the 250ES

I would start looking at timing, and also making sure the exhaust isnt plugged... Mice have created plenty of problems in exhaust systems....

soda

ive moved the timing pulse rotor still runs the same. it runs good on half choke

How is the exhaust? If it runs decent on half choke, it leads me to believe you need to fatten up your jets.... (it isnt a former "high altitude" machine is it?)

In Soda's defense, I do believe that in other parts of the world, Honda did infact make a 85 200es... (not positive, but thought I read into that here on the forum somewhere...) Sure would like to see a picture or two!

There were never any 1985 200ES models in the USA - but in the UK and other countries there are 1985 ATC200ES Models.

When you had the carb off Did you remove all of the jets - and can you see light through them?

Order a carb rebuild kit and install it, all new o-rings, jets, needle, etc. Adjust the valves also. I believe on the Honda 200 engines it is .003 or .002 on either exhaust or intake valves. Sounds like a very simple problem. Is your petcock flowing fuel freely?

if its bogging at full how does it idle? it might just e as simple if you have to much oil in your crank change it your clutch? tune it that helps alot! set it back to factory specs

What aboutthe coil - you could run some tests on the coil to see if it in spec.

soda

You said earlier it runs good on 1/2 choke. So it really has to be a fuel problem. Did you try setting it a little richer than factory specs. Did you spray out all the passages with compressed air or aerosol carb cleaner? Could just still have some gunk in it. Or an air leak into the fuel system, between the carb and the head would also cause it to run lean. If it runs good with some choke its just running too lean. Don't mess with all the electrical and everything else until you know your fuel system is 100%.

As You are determined that no pictures exsist of a 1985 model 200es please follow the link and all will become clear. These pictures are not of my bike but are to prove that I am not imagining this model exsists.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=330453385462 or if that link does not work try this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-Big-Red-200es-1985-Trike-spares-repairs-/330453385462?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item4cf08e80f6 or check out my album

Hope this helps solve the mystery.

Enjoy :-)
