Here is our 5th build. This time 2005 TRX450R conversion. We have changed our thinking a bit in this build and it came out for the better by far. We built a custom tank - which is not powder coated in the photo. And yes - I realize it is missing a chain and the front brake set up. This build will be done late this week. Just waiting on a few front brake components and the powder coater. Notice in the 3rd picture the nice flow of the seat to tank and the narrow dirt-bike feel of the tank shrouds. This bike came out awesome!
Forgive my cell phone pics - better quality actual camera pics to come as soon as she is finished!

i looks stretched... hows the feel when sitting on it is it comfortable or is there any lean when grabbing the bars?
atctim
10-20-2010, 11:19 AM
It may look stretched because it has a plus 2 custom swinger on it. It feels very "250R-ish". Look at the seat in relationship to the handlebars. This is a comfy - ergonomic feel for sure.

That looks GREAT!!!!! Do you sell these, and if so, what do you sell them for?
atctim
10-20-2010, 12:49 PM
we kind of sell them. Basically - you come up with all the parts needed (we are working on a parts list BTW) and a quad - and we do the conversion for X amount of dollars. This one happens to be for a guy who approached us about building it for him.

Nice job Tim....looks like it does sit like a R, little taller. The rider to bar pos looks like it'll work great for taller riders, I like the room there. R forks huh?? No inverts yet. Swinnger looks cool. Looks to be a GREAT MXer

Looks good, what is your rake like, looks a little long? What is your seat height like? Seat height is where I had alot of issues, I did not want to have the really high height that the new 450s have whick led me to my stupid looking seat, but functional.

That looks awesome! Before I got on this web site I never realized that people built their own trikes, :) There is some serious skill around this site...I've gotten into the prerunner pickups and sand rails, etc that are built from scratch but you guys are building trikes that look store bought that way, that is extremely impressive to me! Good work!

So would we call this version 4.0?
Looking very nice Tim. You've got me thinking so hard now. lol

Like the aggressive look. Didn't you build a Suzuki trike? I also noticed the Tecate in the background (orange or jus' pic?), so leads me to my next question since you hang it out there, a kxf trike? Lots a honda based trikes. Some of those Kawasaki's are pretty snorty....so?

we have zero plans for a Kawi trike at this point - we are not set up to weld aluminum and they have aluminum frames.

Well the trike looks stock, Then you see the area I had mentioned. That part just doesnt look natural. Vey nice work, But I dont like the top front of the tank
atctim
10-21-2010, 03:34 PM
I see - well - it has to be that way for triple clearance - otherwise it would have to have ape hangers on it.

10-21-2010, 03:38 PM
i gotta say i like that. a custom tank a few more bucks but if it makes everything line up better who cares....dirtbike races years ago use to have custom alum one make anyway. will you be making some type of rad shrouds to cover them super low radiators i see? besides that, thats my .02 cents.
now do a 300ex...cuz that what i want!
but i gotta ask...why is that tecate orange in the back round!!!!!!!!???
atctim
10-21-2010, 03:40 PM
LOL - the orange Tecate I got from another member here on the boards and it was orange when he got it. It is just the way it is. It is actually really a nice paint job - super shiney like a new car - it was at TF this year.

I think I'll have to agree about the tank, it seems like there's just a big open space up there.

Once again Tim, great job. And to anyone considering one of these and haven't gotten a chance to see a Tionesta Trike in person. They are very well thought out and quality built.

wheres the better quality pics?? sweet build. although these conversion trikes are sweet, and the tech is no doubt superior, i gotta say they just dont do it for me in the looks dept like the later model sport trikes do!! There is not a new quad, or conversion out there that tops the looks of a stock 86R!! TRX or ATC, Or 350X for that fact. Amazing asthetic line up. Imo. I just dont like the pointy rear fenders, slender seat and tank , and the tiny shrouds!! of the newer gen machines. Sorry for the rant!

Looks REAL nice Tim!!! Im gonna have to get something like that one of these days. The ol 350X just cant hang with a 450!! LOL

10-28-2010, 08:50 AM
rear fenders are stock trx450. They could be made to fit a 250R with a little work. The headlight its a polisport - can be had on ebay for $60
No inverts yet Gazoo!
Thanks for the compliments Kyle!

I absolutely love it. I couldn't afford one but if I could I'd get right on the waiting list. Glad to see pics of the headlight, I've looked at those on ebay and wondered how they would look on a trike.
