im going to be doing mine on my 84r soon as well. i found a local small engine shop to do mine. was hard to find anyone to do it cause they said the time it would take em and the amount they would charge wouldnt be worth it to them. if anyone else has done this i would be interested in what they may have paid so i have something to go off of.

i found a shop in kentucky that will do it for my 85r for 100.00 if i send them a new rod kit and 169.00 for them to install a pro-x rod kit. Im leaning toward the 169.00. Sounds like a very good deal to me.

You need to bring it to a machine shop that has the proper tools and Knowledge to do it...Think honda's are a little more complicated cause they have a Tin plate around the weights themselves. Should be able to find a reputable shop around there to do it.

I always change my rod myself, when I change connecting rod for my customers it's habitually 50$....it's a 30 minutes job normally....

I thought that you have to true up the crank after putting a new rod in?

Yes it needs to be trued...Need some roller v blocks and a few dial Indicators, a few brass hammers...feeler guage's fixtures for the press to take it apart and put it together...Sounds like Atc500x is set up good.

I'm using a late, holding the crankshaft on one side, and turning by hand with the dial indicator, and adjust with a brass hammer
