ok my first engine had a bad top end and a good bottom then i got an engine that was supposed to be a runner but the kicker gears are almost completely stripped and there is no spark but it has a brand new top end,so i was going to take the top of the new one and put on my original engine, i took the whole top end off piston and all and when i tried to put the cylinder on the piston it won't fit in this is the same piston that was in it i coated it and the cylinder with oil just like the book says but after the rings it wont go any further and i don't want to force it and scar the cylinder.
any thoughts?

you are using a piston ring compressor right?

One of the engines has probably been rebuilt, your piston might be bigger then your bore.

he said it was the same piston and jug from one engine, just putting it on another bottom end. At least thats the way I read it.

it shoudl fit, you probebly got the pisotn slightly cock-eyed and such. I like to use my fingernail and slowly go aorund each ring to compress them into the bottom of the jug taper then use my thumbs to push down ont he jugo till it touches the next ring and so on. this keeps me from damaging the rings. I tried ring compressors and have not had much luck with anything under 75mm bore it took me 4Xs longer and in the end it was in the way, so I just use my thumb nails on the ring and slightly push down as pushing the ring in. works great for me. lotta years of engine work and no failures yet, so gotta be doing soemthign right. lol
