i know deepa wants to go as well.
I wouldnt mind hitting Pisgah state park. smooth trails but they are patrolled. at least on holiday weekends they are.
We could hit monadnock trails - i dont think stickers are needed so much there. Close to MA border
either weekend before Labor Day or weekend after?? If we do LD weekend most state trails will have patrols...
Just throwing out suggestions.

Just a bill of sale is needed. I think it's $74?

I went to Naults Windham Honda, I gave him my vin # and I was good to go.. didn't even need a bill of sale or anything... Fabio is correct $74

I might be down for something. I have not been riding in a long while. The X is doing pretty well, just gotta change fork oil and it should be good to go. Let me know a date, and I will see if I have the $$ flow to do it.

Ok then.
Deepa says he can go on a saturday. So to work around that. I would say 3rd or 10th of Sept. Should give time for everyone to wrench up, Including me.
The pisgah state trails are nice smooth runs with nice view/hangout up at the lake, but not too many miles. Might be a good first ride/reunion. Im out of shape from not riding, so thats my suggestions.
Pisgah State Forest - hinsdale NH. look it up for distance. On NH/MA border.
If we go on labor day WE - i can almost guarantee local cops will be on state trails with quads. So make sure u got tags. They were last year...
chime in for the date guys.
cant wait to ride again.

08-21-2011, 08:14 AM
No pisgah for me, if we are that far south. We should just go to Hinsdale, NH. Pisgah is all family, like highway trails.
Ridden there many times. Always crowded and to flat. I can ask Dads if he'll let is park at his place. Their is a little track and a whole bunch of sweet trails near him.
fabiodriven
08-21-2011, 10:41 AM
I don't care where we go. I'd just like to know the condition of the trails so I know which machine to bring.
tri-Z ripper
08-21-2011, 11:01 AM
I just know 100% holiday weekend pisgah will be crowded and have the men in green out in full effect. Hinsdale is half private and part public. You can get to pisgah from Hinsdale but requires experienced riders. They are marked trails but not for rookies. I don't dislike pisgah it's just like riding down walkway trails. Either way I'll be riding in southern NH next weekend the 28th if anyone is interested.

From the sounds of it, I personally wouldn't mind a ride at this Pisgah place. If they're easy trails then they'll be good for my R. Not to mention I like going to places where there are a lot of people sometimes. And I kind of like the idea of a big group of nice trikes amongst a crowd of square-riders. I like the look on their faces when they see us.
To each their own though. I'll go wherever.

i would make the drive!! only a few hrs to southern nh for me. i dont like the sounds of highway trails though! im with tri z ripper!! if im gonna ride, i want to ride!! i like challenging terrain that will give me a work out!! if i sent someone my vin# and 74$ could they get a tag for me?? labor day is out for me though. camping with the family. any weekend after i am game! if i get the tag i would deff want to use it a few times!! coming up on the best season to ride!! i'm dying to get out!!

I'll stop into the shop where I got my last regular registration and ask about doing reg's on behalf of out-of-staters and will post here Thursday with the answers.
Yes, if you do not need be present, I can handle regs for people that need them and mail them back. NH reg's require a driver's license number in addition to VIN. Better to have this stuff worked out in advance, more time to ride.
Reason I say regular registration, is because now I've got an antique OHRV aluminum plate on my machine. Good deal: over 25 years old, cost $50.50 and good for life- never expires. :naughty:Had to go to Concord and get it directly from Fish & Game. HOWEVER, not sure if out-of staters can get this or just residents. I'll check into this as well and report back.
I'm on the NH/MA border and only 54 miles from Pisgah State Park, I'd like to join you guys, see if my buddy wants to tag along with his SX as well. I can do the 10th or 11th doesn't matter to me.

Yup, you're more than welcome Dave. Thanks for all the info and help, but I've never had an issue just rolling up and grabbing a reg. It only takes a few minutes.
That sucks that they won't do the antique plated for us out-of-staters. I would have loved to grab one of those!

No eqivalent in MA?
I just checked in at Souhegan Valley Motorsports and they said you MUST appear in person to register a machine to present a drivers license and sign both copies of the reg.

I'm 200 miles inland, and its getting me overtime all weekend. Baby sitting metlifes data center!! you guys can haggle on date and location, i just want to ride. Don't worry about us Rory, this ain't shnit. They always get us all skurred like we better baton down the hatches and then nothing comes of it. I went boating to the Vineyard in the hurricane we had last year, no bull.
fabiodriven
08-25-2011, 08:05 PM
Ha! TecateDan just reminded me that it was his boat I was on last hurricane! It's an 86 Chaparrel, 24ft I think? We were determined to make it to Edgar Town (on Martha's Vineyard) on Labor Day, hurricane or no hurricane. I took my chainsaw in the truck with us just in case. We slept in the boat on the trailer Friday night through the hurricane and then steamed through steady 8 footers the next morning all the way to the Vineyard. We got pounded on the way there. The only way we were able to make it was by staying in Dan's father's wake. Dan's father obviously has a bigger boat (which is what Quint needed). We got tossed on the way there and nobody else was at the Vineyard. I'm fairly certain we were the only two boats that went over that day. Stayed there Saturday night on the boat and steamed back Sunday morning, only to hit steady 6-8 footers with some rogue 10's. No escort for the steam back either, we were on our own. We almost didn't make it back to the trailer.
Here's the boat (from a different day)
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r275/fabiodriven/6232010020.jpg
Here's a pic from Dan's dad's boat of us behind them the day after the hurricane. Dan was like the Gorton's fisherman sawing at the wheel and running the throttle.
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r275/fabiodriven/summer2010169.jpg
We do have a fresh hurricane coming.....
Oh and to keep on subject, let's ride soon.

You will be overcrowded there for sure and so you all know in Pisggah is a ranger station and they do radar on the trails speed limit is 15MPH and 25MPH on the rest. Wide open enough for pickup trucks to come down so watch for greenies. as well as a lot of little kids following their parents utility quads. Hinsdale NH is only 15 minutes away from pissggah and more private trails. if anyone is interested in meeting me for a ride there let me know 860 990 9437

I've never been to this place Rory, so I have no idea. We've done plenty of rides at all different places, all different skill levels and terrains. I personally don't care if this place is flat and easy. I've been dying to get my R out on a local ride and most of the places we usually go are not the terrain for that bike. I'll just be glad to see all the boys together again. It's been too long since we've gotten a group of this size together.

Little kids, speed limits, and enviro pigs are NOT my idea of a good time. Thats a recipe for me or any of the rest of us to leave in cuffs. I think we need to go elsewhere, what about fish hatchery rd??? Sorry guys, not trying to cause waves, but most of us drive like a-holes and like to party, pisgah sounds like that is not welcomed behavior.

Well i dont really mind either, but if its anything like its said to be i say why bother. Also transfering somewhere else can tie up quite a bit of time. I like to put in a good shift of solid ride time if im making a special trip up there, i say go to a place thats known to not have pigs, speed limits or anything else that hinders a good time. Just my .02c

At ease boys... At ease....
Paul set up this ride and it was his suggestion to go to Pisgah. I've never been there but I like the idea. Like I already said, it sounds like a good smooth place to bring my R and I kind of want to show the square riders that we still exist and are not in fact illegal or extinct. Not only do we exist, but we have some really nice machines. It ain't gonna kill ya'll to behave for a little while. Let's see what this place is about and if it's not for us we leave. If some guys don't like it then they'll know not to go there next time. It's a place to ride ATV's and we're all going to be legit. How bad could it really be? Let's see how it goes and take it from there.
Just don't let TecateDan talk to any cops. Kid's about as straight a shooter as they come but he falls apart when talking to cops. Even if there wasn't anything illegal going on or anything to hide they'd think he's up to something. Paranoid bozo he is.

ya, i would like to atleast check it out. it is a legal place to ride, and closest in NH for me. plus i do have kids, and would like to see it to know wether it may be a good place to bring them in the future. That being said, i already stated my opinion on wanting to RIDE!! I have know probs throwing the 350 back in the truck and bouncing elsewhere if it sucks!!! It will be cool to see the looks on some square's faces when 15 trikes roll bye!!

If all goes according to plan I will have my camper there. I'll have my grill, and the oven and stove both work perfect. The shower and hot water all work. It really only sleeps 2 comfortably, but we can use it as a hangout anyways. I just bought some steak tips and tossed 'em in the marinade. I'll grab some beans and shite as well. I'm not sure if it's enough steak* to feed all of you blubber-grubs, but we'll eat it 'til it's gone. If any of you arse-clowns wanna bring something to toss on the grill feel free. (you know the grill) It's a small, modest grill, but it does the job. Not only that, but it's been to Trikefest. That's more than most of you bozos can say for yourselves. Ha!
The terlett works too so we can make doo-doo in peace.
*Steak offer is only valid for riders of three-wheeled ATV's

Looks like Rt 2 to Rt 78, but that's gonna change if we hit Robust Valley Rentals.
That place looks good Rory. I'm gonna call them and make sure they won't let us down that morning. I'd hate to show up after a 2.5 hour drive only to hear that "Jim-Bob who does the stickers won't be in today because he got kicked in the nuts by a horse last night" or something like that.
I really am surprised by the amount of views this thread is getting. Do other people just read these for fun? The only time I look at the local riding section is for a ride we have coming up. Maybe I'll take a peek at some other people's pics sometimes, but we don't even have any up yet.

Just to clarify for the people who may be reading this thread and do not know, it's not $250 a day for stickers. It's $74 for out of stater's and the sticker is good until June. If you get the sticker in June, it's good for a year. If you get it now, it expires in June. It's even less money for NH residents.

Just off the top of my head, there will be at least 4 really nice machines that guys took time to build from the ground up. If one of them gets hit because you don't want to spend the $18 to change your brake shoes it's not gonna be pretty.

Guys, Al- Dads says the parking lot is open and his yard is open if the lot is full. P.s it is a dead end road so it is right on the powerlines is where the parking is!
I'm still waiting on throttle cable, i most likely won't make it. IF anyone is disrespectful then make sure its noted! Its in winchester next to ashwelot. there is a new track at the top of the hill by Dads. the guy asks you sign a waiver before using it. so just a heads up if he's not there I would stay off it. It is all hand maintained and a nice little track! I'll see if i can make it but you guys will have fun no matter what!

I am dead-set on bringing my R despite the fact that rocks and mud are its mortal enemy, but I don't want to hold anybody back from any riding whatsoever. If it gets water-logged or anything gay like that I'll be OK. We ain't gonna change course or stop the ride because of me. I know the risk going in and I'll accept the outcome. It's only gotten water logged on me once before and it was my fault. I blew right through a puddle that I knew I shouldn't have, so I'll just have to be careful.

Those with pingers, never a bad idea to throw a few gatorade bottles of fuel in you pack just in case, ive made it back on fumes before, lotsa trails to explore. Thats where a 350x really shines, ride 8 hrs and still have half a tank.

i road for almost 6 hours yesterday, it was real real wet. any rivers to cross are fast moving, any puddles are deep. not that muddy but standing water everywhere. also, a mass jeep club came recently and tore all the trails up pretty bad, you will notice the destruction.
anyone worried about parking, park at the bottom of the powerlines but do not park under the lines. the pratts made the lot large enough, the area the pratts made for al isnt needed. please do not go on the track unless some one is there. look for signs and stay on the trail till you get back on the lines.

Guys, I'm not going to be able to join you for this ride. I broke my wrist two months ago and it's just not ready to go. Just got my cast off and pins taken out on the 18th of last month. I thought it would be ready, but I'd rather not chance re-injuy.
I can't have a new break delay my return to work, It'$ been long enough. That, and my machine isn't 100% ready nor am I going to rush it. Transporting it is
another issue I was working on having solved by this time. Reading the posts, I get the sense that most of you are very experienced riders. I am not.
Since most of you are coming some distance to be here, I'll make the drive out to meet you and see your machines. Being able to put a name to a face is good, that way I'll

Ya, those trails aren't challenging, they just suck. Let's not sugar coat it. It's like riding in a damn creek bed the entire day. If you guys want to go back there I'll go. I'll just bring the SX next time.

Here is a list of NH state parks. Looks like there is contact info on each location. I'll shoot out some E-mails this week and see what I can find out. Looks like Tri State and Tri County are the most central. Anyone ridden any of these trails or know anything about them?

Ya, theres another pit over across from where keene motorsports useta be and a bunch of trails that branch off here, there and everywhere we could investigate. I know John has no good words for that place, but if onboard a machine that can handle the terrain, it might be enjoyable for him.

Nothing beats stock nissin pads, half my bikes still have the original pads up front from 25 years ago, they are simply awesome.
If you have to go aftermarket, get the most metallic ones you can find, otherwise its just gonna be a 1-2 ride deal

Just got new tires 22 vs the 20's I ran last time, new bake pads (gonna try a set of OEM and see how they hold up) Lower gearing to off set the bigger tires, lighter wheel spacers than the ones I currently borrowing from fabio (trying to reduce the unsprung weight) and a new rear brake line. Now I just need to find the time to get it all bolted up before we go riding

You are always so negative kid. I bought aluminum ones but they are milled down so that they don't have a lot of extra material, There 2.5lbs for the pair where as your must weight 6-7 lbs each.

do yourself a favor dan and give those lowers a good coat of wax!! it will protext the polish job for awhile, especially hittin that abrasive mud. easy to do when they are all apart like that. i never did mine when i got them back, and i regret it. they will never look as good as the day you unwrap them!! the wax should help. you can clear them, but there is NO clear out there that does not yellow. where the rest of you guys at?? lets get some activity in here!! Good Call!! I should of thought of that. I use this stuff called collinite fleet wax on all my stuff. It's designed for airplanes and it's unbelievable. I wax my boat once in the spring and after a season in the salt water and a winter of sitting covered up outside water still beads off it like I waxed it yesterday. I'll be interested ot see how it holds up on the shiny parts.
