Headlights and tail light were working. Now nothing works.
Here is what I checked .... any tips or advice appreciated.
Opened headlight checked for corrosion no corrosion
Light bulbs do not look burnt. Filaments in bulbs look ok.
The switch on the handlebar. On off switch for motor works.
Tried Hi Lo On off for lights nothing.
What type of tester do I need to check to see if a current is going through the wire ?
I have one of them testers for inside the home but I dint know if it will work for DC.

It will work,,sounds like the switch,,very slowly play with it ,see if they blink,,then clean out w ether or contact cleaner . If that doesn't work,,wiring.

Your tester should work, if not just go down to harbor freight and pick up a cheap multimeter to read the DC voltage.. I would check to make sure your AC regulator is still in good working condition, when they go bad you won't be able to keep a light on to save your life!!!!

Does the 350X put out DC or AC current?

I was thinking the same thing maybe the switch. I will go through everything until I can find whats going on with this thing.

Yep, its generated as AC, and changed to DC via rectifier (diodes), which is sometimes a separate unit, and sometimes its built into the regulater...

You need to make sure all wire connections are clean (lightly sanded ) as these can create alot of issues!

Bad reg will BLOW your bulbs.. Don't just throw parts at it! Troubleshoot it. I really would have bet on the switch,,being BOTH head and tail quit at the same time. You need to OHM out your lighting coil, Should be a manual available thru this site . It will tell you the color codes and resistance needed. Then you'll know where you're going, new lighting coil,or wiring.

thanks the bulbs are not blown. I will check the rest of the wire connections.
I tested the switch and there is no current going through the switch for the lights but the on off switch for motor works. I cleaned it out really good. Still same issue. Just really odd how it all went down at the same time. Maybe the switch is shot......... I will check out the manual and take a look at the lighting coil and wiring.

found out what the problem was. It was the roost boost. It had wires exposed insulation cracked wire was touching itself and wiring at clip was loose. Removed it and plugged back into harness. Its all good now. Thanks all for the advice.

Take that roost boost and give it to a homeless guy.
