I bought my 1982 ATC 110 for $500 in pretty good shape. New rear tires and protaper bars. Just replaced the exhaust last night as it was buggered. used a 110CC pocket bike pipe and its very quiet and have lots of punch. My plan is to over the years replace whats worn and keep it in good shape for my kids.

My mom bought me a cleeaaan mint 1986 Honda 200X for $400. She got a steal on it. At first i was like, i don't want that thing! but i didn't say it because i was just happy that i had something more then a 39cc scooter haha. I started riding it and fell in love. I loved it, i miss it everyday. I traded it for a 1986 VW GTI 2 years ago. I'll have another 3wheeler soon.

I paid a $100 bucks for a 1980 Yamaha trimoto 125 that did not run, but I showed it to my friend and he told me he had a neighbor up north that had one sitting in the woods, so we asked the guy about it and he said if we can get it out of the woods we can have it, so we pulled it out and put the two together and thats how I ended up with my trike.

Picked a few (200m & 110) out of a dumpster, all the way up to $5k for a mint 86-250r. All depends on the condition and if the seller knows what they have.

Picked up this 85 250R for $1500 in the spring. Had only 2 hours on a completely rebuilt top and bottom end. Going to need some new plastics, and a much smaller front tire. Still a good deal to me, considering they're next to impossible to find around here... Rear swinger says Fox Factory instead of Pro Link, is this a factory thing? Or just some stickers someone slapped on??

Hey, I was going to helicoil it but its one of those things where its working now, I planned on it whenever the plug needed to be changed again, but its one of the best NGK plugs I've ever had, some of the helicoils i've had in alliminum heads before wanted to come out every now and then when changing plugs, most wern't staked down with a center punch though, Have you had good luck with them on a honda head?

Every 3 wheeler I own was free. Got my 1984 Kawasaki KLT 250 from an old man that had it sense it was new. It sat in his shed for over 15 years and he forgot about it. I asked him because I saw it one day, and he said take it. Cleaned fuel pump and carb and started rite up. Nothing wrong with it to this day. I also have a yamaha 225DX that I got yesterday. Some guy called me saying he wanted it out of his yard. Complete bike havent got around to messing with it. Also have a 1984 i think Honda 200s that was in a dumpster behind a mechanic shop. Put gas in it and fired rite up but smokes. I get lucky with 3 wheelers.

1983 Honda 200E. Inherited from deceased grandfather. Hadn't been ran in probably 3 or 4 years, started on the 3rd pull. Ran like garbage so I rebuilt the carb and cleaned the fuel tank, replaced the disintegrated air filter, and she runs like a top. Left brake lever is broken and the gear shifter is bent but I'm too lazy and too cheap to replace them so far. Other than those issues, it's in really nice shape. He kept it in the garage however long he owned it (maybe 10 years or so). Plastics are in great shape, seat has a small tear but nothing major, racks have a dent or two and are a bit rusty but that's not a big deal.

Got mine for $800, needed a new front end, the guy before me rolled her pretty hard, bent the bars slightly, but the top end of the fork posts we're bent making the bars even more crooked, cost me $200 for a whole new front end; bars, forks, brake levers, fender, wheel, the whole thing.

So all in $1,000 for an otherwise mint '84 Big Red 200es

But I regret to say after 3 years of having her, and growing up on one, I'm most likely going to be selling her this summer for something newer and with more wheels. Getting old, can't take the abuse any more!

my current ride my 86 125m cost me nothing I inherited it from a cousin who passed away. It looks almost new minus some scratches. I had to find a used muffler on ebay. new win cycles carb. new seat cover. new switch I couldn't get an original one for that bike so bought one that was acutely for a trx 300 it looks almost just like the original. new tires and rims. and a recoil starter i'm in it probably around 4 to 700 dollars but I don't care what anybody offers me for it I will never sell it because I will never find another like it.

I bought my first 1975 ATC90 from Honda of Torrance (LA) for $650.00 OTD with helmet. About a month ago my son brought home a 1978 ATC 90 that had been sitting on the side yard of his friends house since 1986. The guy gave it to my son because it didn't run. After about 2 hours of tinkering it fired up and my son rode it up and down the street. Turned out to be a clogged pilot jet. The thing about the bike is it was totally stock; air-filter, chain guard, tool kit, fender flares, etc. You don't find an unmolested ATC 90 in southern Calif. to much. Looks nice now after a Krylon re-build and a couple tires. Had it out to the desert several times this season. Everyone wanted to ride it over any of the machines we brought. Showed them how to do a wheelie by standing up and locking your heels on the pegs and pressing hard into the fender with you calfs, turn the handle bars to the right or left stop (I use right) look for a big bump in the sand, hit it with your front wheel and stab the throttle-now its just a balancing act with the throttle blip and you leaning gently foward or back to keep it in the sweet spot. Try 2nd gear high range at first, soon you'll be shifting on the fly into 3rd, never 4th too tall a gear for a stock motor.

Here is my latest pick, A 1986 Honda 350X. I got it for $800 here in So. Cal. It ran, only had a few missing parts like an airbox lid, and intake tube.

Biggest problem was oil leak from the bottom of the crankcase. I dug into it and due to my lack of information when buying the bike, I have found out

this bike is an 1986 frame, with a 85 motor, and a 400ex carb. Being its my first bike I bought with my own money, (Im 19) its going to take some time to

collect the funds to get it in a better running state. But anyway, here are some pics...

83 honda 110- looked like an absolute mess when I first bought it, cut up plastics And spray can painted green and silver but ran descent. Payed 150. Is my current project, motor is going to be a 130 by the time it's all said and done and yes it's a cdi motor

84 honda 110- bike was in descent shape just badly faded plastics. Didn't run when I bought it needed carb rebuilt and pull start restrung, then it ran beautifly. Bought for 275 then sold for 400

3-85 honda 125m- 2 of the 3 were almost complete bikes with great plastics but only 1 ran. The 3rd bike was used strictly for parts. The running one smoked horrible and 4th gear stripped out so thanks to the parts motor that was fixed. The 2nd motor needed new rings and the carb rebuilt. Bought all 3 for 300. The first bike had amazing plastics, a front rack, all working electrical, working brakes (front and rear), new tires, and original tool kit and never put any money into it then what I paid for the bikes, sold for 600. The second bike has great rear plastics (missing front) great tires, runs great, with rear rack. Will be sold soon just need to fiberglass the seat pan and put on a new seat pan.

It was time to get back into trikes. I was looking for an 84 Big Red to help move some trees we're clearing on a property. I thought I got pretty lucky when I found one locally. Then the bug hit again and I can't stop looking for them.

In the last couple weeks...
'84 200ES Big Red with Hi-Lo-Reverse - $400
Family owned before me, I'm the 3rd owner and got the "title" and owners manual. Hadn't run since 2001. Battered and a little faded on the plastics and the tires need to be replaced but hold air (mostly). All complete and unmolested with factory tool kit. Gave it a carb cleaning and quick run through and put it to work the next day.

Yamaha '83 Tri-Moto YTM200K - $225
Drove across the state, the guy was tired of pulling the starter rope with no success. I'm supposed to be the 2nd owner. Unmolested but the seat was trashed and the plastics are badly faded, but all in one piece. Cleaned the carb and fiddled with it, got it going and have been riding it. Needs new seat foam and cover since I lost the foam on the interstate. Also needs a few odds and ends and a thorough going through, but is hauling people around and works surprisingly well.

Yamaha '84 Tri-Zinger - $80
Very near complete with an extra unknown engine and box of extra parts. Was told it was not getting spark when it last ran. Tires hold air long enough to move it around, plastics trimmed and faded, seat needs a new cover. Haven't had a chance to tear into it to see what it needs, yet.

Previous years:
'84 Honda 200ES Big Red '83 and Yamaha Tri-Moto on an 8'x8' trailer that could use a new deck - $750
-Cleaned the carbs, bought 2 rear tires and ran the hell out of them.
ATC 70 - $75
-Mostly intact with a box of extra parts and decent plastics. Got it running with parts on hand and a new brake cable. Smoked but was a solid runner.
TRX 90 - $150
-Butchered Plastics and rattle-canned black. Smoked a little and had a soup can on the exhaust. New brake cable and brake shoes - ran the crap out of it.
84 200X - $325
-Needed to be taken out of mothballs and new rear bearings in the wider rear axle. Sold it to a kid that was looking for his first big project. He was going to restore it. I never did anything with it, unfortunately.

....So many Honda 50s and other bikes.

It hadn't run since someone lost the key a year or so back. Seat cover is hosed but otherwise all together and complete. Haven't had a chance to wrench on it yet.

Not a trike, but also got a 1993 EX300 with a blown top end and no plastics for $25 with the Tri Moto. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. Might just craigslist it and see what someone will trade or pay. Pretty tempting to shelf and use as another project though.

The only trike I have ever bought was the first one I acquired when I decided to get back into trikes. 125m ugly as hell but it had compression. As long as it's not seized I will usually jump on it. $100 was the magic number. With three flats it wasn't easy to get into my truck. Cleaned the carb and tank and it fired right up. It has an idle problem which I haven't had time to pin point.

Ytm200ern was given to me by a friend that was moving and could not take it with him. Sunk about 500 so far but it is a solid trike. Nothing special but rock solid and reliable.

85 big red hybrid was also given to me recently. When I first got it looked like Frankenstein owned it. Wires crossed parts missing, self tapping screws, ugly paint, parts added and of course it needed an engine rebuild. But it did have a nice 86 200x front end to work with. Currently rebuilding the rear end and fixing a few cosmetic issues. It should be in riding shape very soon. If I could ever get off of this boat and find some time. Gulf of Mexico is rough this time of year.202458

1983 Honda ATC 185s running, paid $350. It ran half-ass so I cleaned the carb and did some other basic maintenance, probably put another 15-20 into it. The guy claimed he was making money too, so I cannot imagine what he paid for it.

I paid $350 for a 1984 200ES with a Cycle country plow. I will have 3 times that into when it is done. It needed a cdi box, and thanks to info posted by member kbOnly, a swapped out a cdi from a Chinese scooter and had the old girl running for less than $30.

Way more then I wanted for the 200x. It helped that I sold the 200es and made some money off it.

The X is really clean, so I guess I did ok on it

I got my '85 ATC110 for $100 from a guy on Craigslist. He started it right up (a definite plus), but showed me it wouldn't go into gear. Not really a big deal, as I had a feeling what that was about. I've put about $100 in various parts into her, as well as an excuse to buy about another $100 in new tools, and still have a little ways to go rebuilding it - better, stronger, faster than before!

My first one was a 82 185s for $150 and a shotgun ran but runs much better with a bew carb air filter and spark plug. Its ugly and could use tires but they hold air. Its my runner
Second ones a 83 185s for $150 and a blown dirt bike. Ran but again much better now with the same "tune up" plastics are decent and tires are great. Its my girlfriends ride
Most recent is an 85 200s for $40 the engine runs but alot of other stuff is rough. Got it to put the suspended forks on my 82 185s. And other spare parts

85 350x dirty, broken but salvageable fender, pretty good condition under the filth= $400 rifle and $400 pistol

Hate to bring a thread back form the dead, but i recently picked up a Kawasaki klt 160 off a long line of trades. Started with a $65 electric guitar from walmart. traded that for a 2007 Macbook in 2012. Used that up until this year, and traded for a 125cc pitbike that was not running. had blown rings i think and the bike was nice enough to put the money into fixing it. Traded that dirtbike for a Youth model Rossi .243 hunting rifle with a Bushnell scope. Didnt shoot that much and wanted a summer project, so i trade for my KLT 160. Super happy.

A few weeks ago I was looking for a trailer to pull behind my 88 Fourtrax and while just surfing Craigslist My spotted a 250SX like it always does but there was a trailer hooked up to it. So I went to go by a little utility trailer I saw on craigslist. All the add said was "ATV UTILITY TRAILER PULL BEHIND $200". I thought $200 for the trailer was a bit high but every one else want way more so ok 200 it is. I got there and the trailer turned out to be a bit smaller than it looked online and I said that's seems a bit much for this little trailer and he said "NO the ad was for the ATV and the trailer!"

I think I pee'd myself a little bit when he said that and quickly gave him $200 for both and ran away with a 85 250SX and a ATV trailer. SO $100 for the trailer and $100 for the 250sx!

This summer I've acquired 85 Atc 70 for $400. It didn't run for 2 years. I cleaned carb and it started right up. It looks hardly used. 85' atc110 for $300. Runs ok. Winter project. 83 200e for $600. Restoring now & almost done. Super strong bike. Sounds awesome with dg muffler. 2-85' 250 es for $750. Both complete bikes. One runs & drives like new. Other one is another project for my 6 yr old son. Also have 83' 200s frame, engine & rear-end. My neibors now think I'm nuts but more power to them. I didn't realize the bad rap atc's have until I bought these. These people know nothing about them or nothing about riding in general. These bikes are so cool, I can't wait till they all look new

1st was a 1984 Honda Atc 200s with an 82 200e engine with hi-low $200 Runs decent needs a seat, front brake cable/dog leg.
2nd was a 1980 atc 185 with an 82 185s engine with a Wiseco Top end Kit $500 but mint not missing much but VERY MINOR stuff.
3rd is a 1983 Atc 200, $250, its more complete then the 200s but engine sat and they must run Rust for gas, so i have the top end apart for all new gaskets valve train clean up and a light valve lap and then reassemble and readjust it all and thats the one engine im going to run in the winter, since the 200 has been sitting and has surface rust in places already.

4th and soon to come is an 1985 200x, will be about $300 and 2 hours drive

5th not there yet but once i have the 200x i will be looking for MORE, and Yes you CAN RESCUE them ALL..NO such thing as TOO MANY PARTS...LOL

I got a 1977 ATC 90 complete bike minus some stuff, a 1981 ATC 185s complete bike, 1983 185s frame. for 225 bucks. Guy needed the extra $5 for gas. Then I bought a 1981 ATC 200 from the second owner. The guys father in law bought it for moose hunting, used it a couple times a year max then died. Then the guy I bought it from (His son in law) rode it a bit and got it stuck in the mud bad and never rode it again. He then got into a divorce an then sold it to me for $200 cash. Because and I quote (I want to get rid of all the memories of that trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro) Came with 3 newer tires with brand new tread just cracked from sitting so one needs a tube. All it needed was a good carb clean, air filter, intake and gas tank cleaning and a seat recovering. It was spray painted black but its red again. It has an aftermarket rack and it came with a couple of bits from the stock tool kit. This thing is pretty mint aside from normal plastic damage. Did a compression test and its at 175 PSI.

Here's some updated pics of my YTM200, everything is pretty much original other than the Pro Taper bars I put on. The factory bars were tweaked a bit from the previous owner.
Also rigged up some tiny bullet LED's for the tail light, never came with a tail light.

In the process of a winter service, cleaned/inspected carb, valve/cam chain adjustments, new oil, etc...

Paid $800... but I'll probably be into it for around $1000 at the end of the day. Well worth it in my opinion!

I traded my 69 El Camino for the 350X. Mainly because I wanted someone to get the El Camino up and running again.

I have 4 1984 Honda 200s and 2 1983 Honda 185s. I paid $300 total for all of them, $200 for the clean one and $20 each for the rest, and all are complete trikes. One is very clean and runs perfect, two run great but need cleaning up. Havent got the other 3 running yet, but hopefully will come spring time.

Only my time and cost of parts. And the skin off my knuckles.

I got my TR200 on a "fix it, love it, then it's yours" basis from my older cousin who had a whole fleet of things with motors and wheels and was moving across the country and need them all gone asap. One cleaned carb, two adjusted valves, a set of not-bent bars and a dozen small parts later, it's mine and runs like a top... at least the motor does. The rest of the bike is another story. The small stuff never ends though, as soon as I fix one issue, I find another.

Currently, I'm in need of a new rear spring/shock, and a decent set of lights. The flashlight on my keychain throws a better beam than the stock headlight! In the not-so-near future, after I'm done with college and settled into a decent paying career, I'll be doing a frame-off resto, this coastal air is rough on bikes and it's got of rust everywhere.

My Mother bought the 1985 200X for $550 back in 1990, in excellent condition, the guy we got it from had a machine shop and bored it out 20 over. Starts on the 1st kick every time. She gave it to me in 1998. The 1982 185s I found at work, someone had put it and another trike on top of a storage container, uncovered, and left it there for about 15 years. I bought both trikes for $50 each. I sold the other one to my cousin, but I have been restoring the 185s little by little. I replaced the gas tank, front tire and rim, seat, rear fender, pull start rope and just bought 2 new rear tires as the ones on it were dry rotted. Even after 15 years out in the open like that, they started and ran really great after an oil change, new plug and I put a few drops of transmission fluid in the cylinder for initial lubrication.

Paid $50 for a 1986 ATC 125m that was a rolling chassis with no plastics and a 185S engine. Sold it for $100 when I realised it was too much of a project for me to easily do. Bought a 1983 Honda ATC 185s for $150 from my brother, was rather ugly, plastics were cracked and the seat was just a badly damaged foam , and it needed rear axle bearings, but it ran great! The 185s is my baby, and its being slowly being redone, albeit with a Silver on Blue Color Scheme.

82 big red paid $100 ran for about 2 weeks then the motor blew up. So I paid another $300 for a huge atc200 haul, 4 parts bikes with a ton of extras. One of those motors went into the big red, I got a atc200s up and running as is, and piecing together a third one. Quite the fleet going here

I bought a 84 125 for 350.00 off c l . He said it needs a clutch.I rode it around and it didnt seem to bad, just had a hard time with neutral. When I got it home,i rode it up and down the driveway, and a run thru the woods trail, all in a four acher area.and when I got to the back corner,I lost all gears. Its in teh shop now and Mechanic is pretty sure some one just had the motor re built, and they put something back in the trans wrong.I hope I get it back soon,as I want to start on the other repairs.

I traded a $200 pistol for this 110. Its pretty nice, but needs 1 tires, seat, and bearing on back axle. It cranks first pull, runs excellent.

I gave $400 for the 200x I had back in like year 2000. It had broken plastics, but was a great runner and very dependable.
Ive had various tri-moto and klts thats were basically parts bikes I got for free.
I gave $35 a while back for a big red 200. I think it will run, but someone pulled all the plastics and seat off to build a "racing lawnmower?" Tires are shot and steering is locked.

My biggest regret probably more so than selling my 200x would be a 250sx that was really nice. I bought it for $50 it was stuck in reverse. Before I ever worked on it I let someone talk me out of it. It was in great original condition. You could tell it had been ridden, but was not wrecked.

Seems an old 3 wheeler used to bring in the 0 to 100 range.

Paid £750 for this 250es with a trailer from a a guy 2 farms over it started fine to start with but cut out randomly (fuel line was clogged) then one morning it wouldnt start up removed spark plug and replaced it as it was shot air filter was full of old leaves god knows how long they were in there, basically serviced it gave it a 10 mile blast round the farm with a few hiccups and just been chipping away at bits here and there ordered new bits and pieces apart from that pretty sound repainted gas tank yet to spray the fuel cap mostly cosmetic could do with an oil change but runs really well now, even though i rolled it this afternoon at the top of the moor and a ton of oil started leaking out just need to figure out where!

You might want to check your crankcase breather. It sounds like the oil is coming from there. After an oil change you should be good to go again.

Hi, I paid £500 for my 1982 Honda 185s ATC about 5/6 yrs ago, it was a barn find, I was told the original owner bought it for his kids and they didn't get on with it so it was stuck in a barn for about 25yrs. The guy I bought it off had a similar story, bought for his son who lost interest in it, which I think was more due to some poor running issues. I bought a carb refresh kit, a set of new cables and a rear luggage rack type thingy for it, got it up and running properly then bought it out to my place in Croatia (originally i'm from the uk) spanked it around some of the dirt roads out here and quickly realised why the kids couldn't get along with it, I think you need to be a reasonably experienced / competent rider to propel one of these without binning it in reasonably spectacular fashion, so not really a kids toy, already almost disappeared down the side of a very steep hill and more recently managed to flip it onto myself.

Due to a lack of time, broken pull chord and an idiot that forgot to drain the fuel out of the carb, (me) it's spent most of it's time in my ownership tucked away at the back of the garage and I was planning on selling it, anyhow pull chord fixed (what a fun job that is) fresh fuel, new spark plug which is how I found this place looking for correct spark plug gap size and she's alive :D it's not the fastest thing I've ever ridden but it makes reasonable progress for a death trap with no steering  so I don't think I'll be selling it anytime soon as it pretty much owes me nothing and is at least still worth in the region of what I paid for it.

It's in pretty good condition for it's age bar a small amount of surface rust on the frame and the chrome on the handle bars has seen better days, but she's nice and original and none of the above bothers me, I'm a function over form kind of a guy, although that said I did repaint the tank when I first bought it, although it's sprung a petrol leak on the carb bowl gasket so I need to do something about that and a rather high idle speed.

So that's a long enough 1st post and I'll stick some pics up of the old girl when I've charged my phone.
