I just wanted to know what the cap by the recoil on a Honda 200 is for? Is it for gear oil.

Is it a little rubber boot cap? If so that would be to adjust your timing chain tension. If you pull the rubber boot off there should be a smaller bolt threaded into a bigger one. Thats the best way I can describe it.

No that's not it, but that's good to know the one I'm talking about is a flathead type, on top of the recoil

That is To set/check the timing.Edit.. the plug isn't for that, it's the timing marks that are visible under it

good luck getting that plug out :( i usually just take off the recoil and line it up off the cylinder mold fin ( can't explain it better ), but i've timed these motors more than a few times :)
