Tecate fork seal driver help

I'm in the process of rebuilding the forks on my 86 Tecate. I have read about using a piece of abs or pvc as a seal driver. The problem I'm running into is the Tecate forks are larger. I have a piece of 1 1/2" pvc that has the flared end. The regular end of the pipe wont fit over the upper tubes and the flared end won't fit in the tops of the lower tubes. Maybe I'm missing a step or some thing... :wondering

Take a piece of pvc thats not flared about 4'' to 6'' long and cut it into four sections, then put them around the fork tube evenly , using two hose clamps one on top an another on bottom tighten them down!! make sure they are also flat on the bottom so you put the seal in perfect..

I don't have a book. I'm building mine too. How much fluid goes in a 86.

It calls for about 500 ml after disassembly, but I think whats is more important is the fluid level measurement. (in the manual)
