Hello - what is the correct procedure for draining the cooling system on a '85 Honda 250R ATC. No access to a repair manual. Just want to make sure I am not missing anything and doing it right. Never had to do this on my '84 200es (LOL) Am I correct in taking off all the rad hoses and draining the rads, removing the drain screw in the cylinder block (left side) and removing the drain screw in the water pump??? Empty the coolant reserve tank, too??? Will this procedure drain the entire system??? When I purchased this ATC from the original owner last weekend, I asked when the coolant was last changed. His reply was that he was not sure. I want to have fresh coolant put in. Also, how much does the entire cooling system hold??? Thanks in advance, BK3

Theres a 10mm/phillips head on the cylinder and on the waterpump. Pull em with the cap off the radiator. Kick the bike a few times after the cooliant stops flowing. Pullin hoses isnt needed

Thank you Poco Loco, much appreciated. Does anyone know what the cool system capacity is to fill??? Also, the torque specs for tightening the head to the cylinder block??? In the future I am going to buy a shop manual - I can see where the manual comes into play. Thanks in advance.

Remember to recheck the cooliant level after the bike has been started. Sometimes you can top em off on a fresh refill and they have air pockets inside them. Top off, start it, run for about 30sec to a min and recheck the level. then you should be good to go for a ride. Then check again after the ride.
