Hello all. I have a chance to get my hand on a Honda ATC125M for a really good price. I went to look at it today and it seems to be in good condition. The guy selling it said it did run but when he went to use the electric start it would always blow a fuse. I am guessing thers is a short somewhere between the starter, the key and the battery. Are these good trikes? I am a honda fan ever since I owned a 250 SX, but I was wondering if there were any noterd things that would go wrong with them? I am most likely going to purchase it soon. Any help on the starting issue and any comments on the trike would really help.

Personally, if i was *, i would go for a bigger three wheeler, but it also depends on how much he want for it

The 125 M is an awesome trike. Its got that Hi/Low Gearing option and its a great workhorse if the need arrises. I pulled my tractor out of the mud hole in the back lawn with a flat tire on it.I had just bought it, it hadnt ran before me for allmost a year. The motor is Bullet Proof as far as I have ever Known and they are great little Trail Trikes. Heres mine, stock but the Tires and rims.

The 125m is a good trike. They are light and reliable but remember that it is a 125. You won't have a problem with low end but they are slow. As long as your not looking for a sport trike it would be a good trike to get.

Dont get me wrong, they are fun as hell, but he has a 250sx and there is a big jump from a 125 to a 250, i have a 250sx and one of my friends had a 125 and i rode it and i didnt get the power that i was used to

does your 125 guzzle down the gas because my fried would have to fill his up almost once overyfew hours of riding, we looked and there arent ne leeks but its odd that his is like that but my 250 will run a week before i have to fill it up

i am not looking for a sport trike. i had the 250SX and i beat on it. No problems with anything except for there was no third gear and it has a plastic lawnmower gastank on the front. I think I am going to go with the 125M because it is cheap (under 100 dollars) and it should run with the pullstart. The trike will be for wheelies and mud/trail/snow riding. pretty much keep it stock and have fun.

I have a 125m there fun i had mine in 3 or 4 feet of water and it never missed a beat started floating but i made it across and thought it was so cool i turned around and went back across again, only real problems i know of with them is they develop problems shifting and poping outta gear, mines just starting to do it now and ive read of a few others that have the same problem.

heres mine, ive since added the correct headlight to it

allright i am pretty confident that I am buying it, so now i will ask why does it blow a fuse everytime you try the electric start? will this make it unable to run at all or does it mean i cant use the electric start??

It just means that you can't use the electric start. And my guess would be that two wires are touching somewhere that shouldn't be, and when you press the "Start" button, it completes the circuit and blows the fuse. Just my guess though.. I don't know..

What year 125m are you looking at BTW?

Like others have said its not really a sport trike. If you are gonna use it for casual trail riding or yard work or some lighter duty farm work its a killer machine. The Hi/Lo is a huge bonus. I have had mine for a few years, and its unbreakable. I have put it through it paces and then some, but it has never given me trouble. I have tons of hours on it (all original too) and the I have yet to have a clutch or tranny problem.

I like the little 125's myself. they arent very fast but they are sure fun to ride. An 84 125m is what i got my first real trike ride time in on.

i dont know the year offhand. im not worried about the electric start as long as it still runs off the recoil.

Allright got the trike tonight. Will get pics in the morning. It needs a little work here and there like headlight, taillight, brake levers and choke cable. I have a question though. There is some rust in the inside of the gas tank. What can I do to take the rust out and prevent it from rusting again, and where can I find the materials needed to do so. Any links or tutorials would be greatly appreciated as I want to get this girl running ASAP.

You can seal the inside of the tank with tank kreem or por 15,* can get the kreem thre rocky mountain atv and just do a browser search for por 15 and it brings up there site.

for the por15, go to POR15.com. Get the Marine Clean and gas tank set. When you do it completely cover the gas cap or ** going to be sanding for a while. If there isnt a lot of rust, just get good fuel filters.

yeah i am going to shake around some gas and see what comes out. If i need to I will get some POR15, Heard it was better than KREEM. Oh and it is a ATC125M Year 1985. The rear fenders are scratched but all together, I was suprised that they werent cracked.

well i shook some nails around in the tank and got alot of the rust out and it is pretty clean inside now. I put gas in it so it wont rust again hopefully. Also I got most of ir back together and now hopefully all I need is a new spark plug. I will get pics later, or tomarrow.

anyone know offhand the spark plug # for these trikes? I want to go get a new plug tomarrow so I can finally hear her run. I will mainly rin it in low for these hillclimbs here but it will get used in high aswell for some nice easygoing trail rides. I want to get it registered in maine because my friend has a house up there and i hear there is great riding.
