I have my friends yamaha DT 125 in my garage right now. and we took the carb, head, cylinder off... and need to remove the piston from the crank.. not as easy as it should be.

Gotta love clymer " Remove pin by pushint it with a wooden dowel " yeah... :wondering

The top ring has a 1 inch piece missing from it.. and one of the clips are missing.. so i removed the existing clip on the left side.. and tried to get that pin out with a proper size socket.. tried to tap it but i don't want to stress the crank.

The entire bottom end was floating in gas, as the carb was leaking into it.

I need help with removing this pin.. any tips ?

Have someone hold the rod and piston, and take the socket, and tap it with a hammer. Don't go crazy, but it shouldn't hurt the crank.

Princess auto.. heck. never thought of that.. i bet they have it.

Googling for the past hour.. i might try threaded rod and washers with a few nuts as a home made puller...

but princessauto is an option for sure.

thanks.

Big C-clamp, 1 big socket, and 1 small socket, and 4 hands. The smaller socket to push the pin, and the larger for the pin to go into so it wont bottom out on the C-clamp. Worked for me many of times.

Funny you mention.. i had the C-clamp on it with a small deep socket to push the pin.. and was trying to line it all up by myself.. when my friend and his buddy came along..

Buddy has done this 100's of times before.. he grabbed the hammer and the socket and got it out in 2 minutes !!

I was not being agressive enough.

Thanks guys !
