Need Quick answer!

Hi, I just traded an old 22 rifle for a 79 ATC 110 Honda and I just finished cleaning the crud out of the carb. I decided to change the oil and dropped the oil plug out and saw another plug on the left side and thought it was like my Kawi Vulcan and was another drain plug with a screen and so after removing it and seeing the heavy and light spring drop into my hand and the "whatever it is" above not want to come out, I realized it probably wasn't what I thought it was and so now I figure it is some sort of adjustment screw for cam or clutch or something. Please tell me what this is and what I need to do! my wife actually wants to go riding today and I need to get it going ASAP or it will be weeks before we can do this again.

I belileve that is the spring for the automatic cam chain adjustment.

So I tighten it all the way and put the plug back in?
I have no reference books, manuals etc. for this trike.

Yah just tighten it back in. The spring tension against the chain adjuster makes it automatically adjust.

No, don't do it like that, tell me what pieces you have in your hand, I have a manual right here and I can tell you in what order to put it back together and how to set it.

OK There is a piece of hardware that I couldn't get out. Then a light spring, then a shorter but heavier spring, then a threaded unit with a screwdriver slot for adjusting it I assume. Last is a plug/cap to cover it all. The adjuster wasn't very far in when I pulled the cap. It is a long way in if I bottom it out.

The longer light spring goes in first, then the heavy spring, then the piece with the screwdriver slot don't put it in real tight then you will have to set the spring tension with the bike running, get it all in and I will tell you how to set it while running

moparman, on the side where the springs go back into you should see a nut with a piece that has another screwdriver slot in it, loosen the nut up and turn out the slotted piece about half a turn with the trike running, if the cam chain still sounds noisey after doing this, then you will have to turn in the screwdriver slotted piece holding the springs in and hopefull this will quiet the cam chain down. Once either one of these are done, turn the slotted piece on the side back in half a turn and lock it down with the nut, make it snug, don't try and kill it, then you can put the cap piece back on the bottom with it's sealing washer and you should be good to go.
