problems with 2 stroke

my gf's blaster has kinda taken a downhill (Edited due to authors inability to be considerate for young readers!). about 3 days ago it just started running (Edited due to authors inability to follow the rules!), kinda will idle but will die if you give it any gas.

now it'll run and run pretty decent for about 30 seconds when its BONE COLD. like in the morning. during the 30 seconds it'll slowly get worse and worse and bog down then die, then not run after that. sometimes it'll start and die quickly.

it has good gas, it is getting some spark (may be weak).

idont know what to do. i took the entire carb apart and cleaned everything. jet, bowl, everything. checked the reeds they seemed fine.

dont know what to do, except start replacing stuff. motor runs and sounds perfect when it runs for the 30 seconds cold. so i dont think the piston could be (Edited due to authors inability to use common sense!)

Sounds like a carb issue. What in detail, i dont know, but I had that happening on my 200. Start it up and run for about 2 minutes, then out of the blue die. Everytime. I replaced alot of stuff, but it was the carb replacement that did the trick.

do you know what on the carb was the problem? i may have to just try another carb on it.

nope either is electrical, or its a fuel delivery problem, check you petcock, fuel line,gas cap, then start checking coil, stator, if its the cdi, then it wouldnt run at all,

Aha...Check the petcock and bottom of fuel tank for stoppage. And also take *Edited**Edited* fuel valve apart and be sure to clean the screen filter leading to the carb off the valve, I've had this happen to many ATV's. After time gas leaves sediment deposits. This could be it, couldn't not be but just try her out and good luck.

I would double check the reeds, it doesnt take a large crack to get your trike running like crap.

btw this is a blaster.

still having the problem.

starts up 2nd kick with choke on. let it warm up take choke off still runs ok with thumb on throttle. anytime you give it gas it bogs down and wants to die. if you let it die its extremely hard to start back up, have give it a sliver of gas and sometimes it'll chug chug chug chug and start to run.

ive done:

new spark plug
new spark plug boot
new gas
checked reeds (felt fine)
cleaned entire carb out (jets, etc... everything)
checked for air leaks, tightend up all nuts and bolts around engine (except head bolts were already super tight)
tried it with TORS unplugged (i already mix gas)

dont know what else to do... im at a loss

like mentioned above i would check the petcock, it sounds like it just runs out of gas then wait awhile for the bowls to fill then it will start again

dirty at the fuel inlet to the carb, thats exactly what my gf's blaster did, cleaned it out and walla good runnin, also I cleaned the carb a million times before this had to remove the whole needle seat to get it cleanned up

i can try to clean the carb more.

the petcock valve seems to work fine, if i unplugg the hose from the carb gas gushes out

hey, sure sounds like a fuel problem. okay, did you pull out the pilot jet? It's down in a hole next to the main jet. while you're in there, pull the float needle seat out, check the inlet port, with a flashlight. take out the main jet, push the emultion tube up through the venturi. have seen a lot of strange things in carbs. dog hair, bugs, water soluble pesticide.

the previous owner did something to the shaft that holds the floats together, so i cant get it out...

but ive cleaned everything else including the pilot jet

try it with the gas cap removed. Its definitely starving for fuel. Taking the cap off will eliminate any problems with clogged vents.

I had the same problem with my blaster last weekend and it turned out it was the air fuel mixture... Same thing ran awesome for about 30 seconds but no matter what you did after that time it would still die.

Take the bowl off again, and make sure your needle valve is moving properly. Had this problem before and didnt notice the first time through the carb.........

Play with the floats a bunch, make sure the needle is consistent in movement.

Cant remove the floats? Take some carb spray, and give a good hose down while moving the floats up and down.

Had this problem with my brothers quad, would idle, then bog when you give it gas.

well turns out it needed reeds, i took them out and one of them was missing.

put new yamaha reeds in it, run perfect. gf took it up and down the driveway once, her brother got on it and tried to race my 350x and we went up the street once, he topped it out in 6th...

turned around and on the way back he said it just died on it (i couldnt see cause he was behind me) and it wont start now at all... i took the reeds out they are still perfect looking... i cleaned the carb all out, new plug... won't start.

took the head off, the piston is intact, it has compression (not sure if it should have more, it wont push my thumb off the spark plug hole... but since the piston is in tact it should have some compression... if i look through the intake ports i can see the piston go up and down and it looks fine...

if i try and start it, there is gas in the carb, and in the intake boot, and also on the reeds, but the plug is bone dry. is there anything stupid that could cause this????

That'd be kinda ridiculous if now you have an electronic problem. Check for spark.
