I searched the subject but nothing seemed to fit, so here we go, I just rebuilt the motor in my 85 200X when i put it back in the frame today it wouldn't start, it had spark so I cleaned the carb and still no luck, then I pulled the tank off to check the timing and while doing that I noticed a bad connection on some wires, so I fixed them and it started right up, I got it to idle and let it run while I reassembled. I got on to go for a ride and made it about 30 feet and it started popping like it was missing and died, I pushed it home, it still had good blue spark, I cleaned the carb again, it has new gas and still nothing, so tonight I took my CDI and pulse generator of my other machine(which runs) and still nothing, no matter how much I kick or even if I put fuel in the cylinder it won't start. Please help this is driving me nuts I can't figure out why it won't start!!!

You might have jumped time. Did you tighten the cam chain after reassembly? Did you readjust the valves?

I will re-check the timing in the morning, I didn't do anything with the valves, could that be the trouble??

if they finally got nice and warm and tightened up on you, they may not be fully closing.
DO them when the motor is cold, but not cold outside...like a nice 60 deg day is fine.

Could the valves be giving me this much trouble though?? Howcome the machine ran fine earlier in the day and now nothing regardless of what I do.
