what all needs to change to put the 302 in place of the lx 4 cyl... car is a vert, rear end has been upgraded to the 8.8 new tubular control arms and trailing arms and gt brakes allready installed.
302 is same year motor with harness and ecm trans etc etc...
so... 302 mounts and plug in the correct ecm? I heard its pretty strait forward swap
also I dont have any exhuast where are the o2 sensers? are they in the manifolds? becouse if they are I can just make my own exhuast (no inspections here)
not going to be a drag car... possibly lowerd and firmed up to make a good street curvy carver
any other sugestions?

The O-2 sensors go in the exhaust pipe after(just downstream of) the headers.

From what i've read and heard you have to change the k-member. Let me know how it goes, i've got a 93 lx im gonna start on in a few weeks if i can find a cheap engine/trans.

before all the cats?
Yep.
They go between the header/manifold-to-exhaust pipe hookup and the 1st cats in a 4-cat H-pipe system on the '86-'93 models.

You don't need to change the k-member, just the motor mounts. If you want dual exhaust, you'll need a double hump transmission cross-member.
Do yourself a favor and run shorty headers, long tubes and equal length shorties are a real pain when you go to work on anything, starting with just dropping the motor in. Shorties you can bolt on before, the others you have to install after you drop in the motor. On a 400 hp motor shorties might cost you 5-10 hp, but you won't care after you bust up your knuckles and lose 2-3 hours. The O2 sensors go in the H pipe, (I'd run an off-road X pipe) they come with the bungs installed. If you make your own, look at what's sold by FMS, Steeda, MAC..etc. to see how to make it.

Ya the 4 cylinder k member will work. The V6 model doesnt. I would suggest subframe connectors too. Easy mod and stiffens the body up so it don't twist. Also the fuel pump may not be enough so we use to take VW external pumps cant remember which ones and they looked almost like a t-rex pump and are roughly the same psi.

I know that 8 bolts hold that whole front end on - easy to swap to a 5.0.....
And the rear suspension stuff fits oh just fine too.....
I only know because - well, I, uhmm, kinda, took, sorta, got involved, sorta related to, err - I better just STFU right now!!......
They sure do strip down quick though! Esp the ones that come right off the dealers lot! Woo Hoo leather!! Woo Hoo sweet rims!! Woo Hoo Saleen
Sorry about the useless information :D

I agree with all this but in my opinion long tubes are worth it. They aren't bad to get in at all with a 302 especially with the engine out and a tubular K-frame. Also the O2 sensors will screw into the long tube headers instead of the H-pipe. I'd just buy all the exhaust either way, H-pipes are cheap. I have dual 3-inch exhaust with long tubes on my 92. The H-pipe is a lot easier to bolt to long tubes than it is shorties too since the H-pipe starts under the car with nothing else around instead of way up by the engine like with shorties. I've done tons of long tubes, peice of cake on a 302, try that on a 4.6 and let me know what you think. A lot of people will drop the K-fram for that.
And on a side note a V8, V6 and 4 cylinders all the the same K-frame, the straight 6 is the odd ball.
SO what about the harness.. I was told that the stock 302 engine harness wil plug into the LX harnes and you just plug the 302 ecm into it and take the old 4cyl ecm out.. is this correct?

Pretty much yeah. Swap ECMs. If you look in the center of the engine bay up against the firewall there are too larger electrical plugs. Those plugs feed the entire engine harness. Remove the 4 cylinder harness and plug in the 5.0 harness.
THATS what I wanted to know!!
the exhuast thing is just going to be temp untill I put a good stainless one under it.. this car wont be mine though
dont have big plans.. mainly make is a really nice street car no draggin or anything like that.
does anyone have one of the V8 trans cross member so I can run the pipes?

BBK Shorties on a 4.6 sucks. We did it to my cousin 96 mustang and it was a real pain to do. After they were all bolted up they hitted the steering shaft. Stay away from BBK headers.

when it comes to cars the one thing i hate more than anything else is a RICER!!!
the money they spend on those little bumble bee's and think they have a vette
if you took the same amount of money they put into there rattle trap and put it in any decent american car you could eat them up all day.
as for the trans am or the 04 grand prix i would still take the trans am i could take it to a auction and get more for it then i could for the 04. in 21 more years then we will see how much that grand prix is worth

thanx for coming into my thread and posting such great advice and help... man im so glad you told me! I would have ruined my life getting a rustang.....
shut up retard go build your PV motor and race that 450R and leave us.
you dont know the reason behind my questions right now.. unfortunalty I dont care if you ever do.
I know there are more powerfull and faster cars I could give 2 Sh1ts less ( appropriate world filter bypass by an adult)
I prefer my cars bigger longer and slower, but this car isnt for me.

My '89 LX 5.0(exhaust, 1.72 rockers, 65mm TB, 3.55's) use to eat up my buddy's '78 T/A with 455 4-spd and 4.13's across the bridge....bad!

the 3.8 series II is far from a ricer.... 250whp stock, and those engines have been known to be able to run 8 second quarter miles (obviously i mean worked motors, not stock...).
as for the topic i love fox bodies so:pics: :pics: :pics: !
will have pics after this sunday
its a new project
Get in touch with 3leggedog or Derrick Adams. They both build/built these cars. I now 3leg still has his. Im sure they could shed some light to you.

Talked to a customer at work today, he thinks he has a couple in his shed at home. He is going to make sure this weekend and let me know on Monday.
I'll let you know as soon as I talk to him.:beer

You didn't mention that it was a convertible. However, sub frame connectors are a must for any fox body, but especially for a convertible. One we had, ended up with an S-trim Vortech installed, we had to put a 6 pt roll cage to keep it from twisting.

im sure you know this syko but you'll have to add some exhaust hangers too. On my 90 lx notch 4cylinder-v8 swap i swapped out the fuel pumps, fuel lines, main eec harness, bigger radiator, electric fans, just the basic stuff. I also changed out the front brakes because the v-8's had bigger rotors. im hoping you have the whole v-8 car for a donor? i bought mine as a 4cylinder and "all the parts from a gt". ended up needing an injector harness, the tranny crossmember, and tons of other odds and ends.
well I got it... and I got everything off a gt except the actuall body...even had jip lock bags labled with BOLTS and where they went!
all brakes have been upgraded, all stainless lines, all aftermarket suspension, rear has been upgraded, got the trans cross member (gt) basicaly everything! even the airbag for the gt! lol, guy wanted it changed over perfectly! got a 4 inch cowl hood never mounted and a trick fiberglass deck lid! never mounted
my mechanic looked everything over and determined that I raped they guy with a 2x4 and sand! lol!
