Fabbing up an exhaust for a frame customer, should be all finished tomorrow and the frame and exhaust parts will get shipped back!

Are there going to be any mounting tabs on the pipe itself?

Yup, I made that yesterday. Theres another mount back at the silencer using the single bolt 250R rubber isolator, and then also another one up front that hooks onto a waterpump bolt. Suckers nice and tight when its all bolted down. I was thinking about putting a 3rd one back by the kicker, but it really didn't need it.

I wouldnt have a mounting point off of the water pump bolt. If out riding and the pipe gets dented or wrecked it could cause the water pump/clutch cover to crack. Also the vibration coming from the pipe could do some damage in that area. On the CR500 bikes Honda has a rubber isolation mount that mounts to the downtube then to the pipe. I would try that.

Hey Billy, that looks wayyy better than what ive got! If i ever get back on track to work on my 500, that will be next in line after i finish my kicker assy, i hate the way my mutated 85 cr pipe looks on mine.

hey jeff ask him about my fmf fattty that I still have down there if he wants to give it up you can have it for shipping, it was made for my 500 but then I found that bills pipe for mine, its got a few dents in it but it fit well on my 500

I have to agree on this. Vibration is a killer.


Pipe looks really nice. Looks like a production Factory pipe. Very nice craftsmanship.

Im definately going to hit you up on a frame/pipe kit once you get everything worked out.

The pipe is mounted everywhere (except where it goes onto the flange itself) with the 250R rubber isolators. I absolutely agree that you can't solid mount the pipe anywhere or it'll tear itself apart, its got to be rubber mounted.

Billy, what exactly did you do to this pipe, cut in 3 places nd twist? Remove any material? I needs a new pipe for mine and thinking of robbing the one off my 94 cr-5 and getting a new one for the bike

Yup. I didn't remove ANY of the pipe. Mostly just twisting, but there is a small piece about a half inch wide in the middle of it right under the exhaust port (If you look close you can see it) That I had to actually section and flip 180degrees to get the pipe to angle out enough. My best advice is to NOT NOT NOT NOT work on a used pipe. A single dent in it makes it a royal pain in the butt to weld and work with when you twist it around.

I also had to weld on an entirely new stinger tube from the pipe and around to the silencer.
