just aquired ytm 200

hello. i just aquired an 84 ytm 200 and am new to this fourm. it's in fairly decent shape and the owner said it ran good when he quit runing it. I cleaned the carb out and flused the tank and put new gas in, got it running for about 5 minutes. now i can't get it to run at all! please help!

Post some pics! Welcome to the board too. When you were running it for 5 minutes, did you just shut it off and now it wont start or did it die on its own?

does it have spark? is the spark plug fouled? air filter clean? Check to make sure that it is getting gas flow to the carb.

i'm working on pics. plug seems good, not fouled. i had the choke on and it ran for the few minutes when i figred it was ok to turn it off, thats when it shut off. good flow through the air filter. i'm planing to take the carb off and check it out and clean it again. one problem i have is my arm and shoulder are killing me! the starter is missing all the de-comp parts, makes it tough to start. and as far as pics, how do i post them? thanks!

plug is getting great spark

got it running some more, but will only run with the choke on. also backfires through the carb alot. any ideas?

Sounds lean? Maybe you have something in the fuel line? Sounds like its not getting enough fuel.

Are you sure you cleaned the carb good enough? Read this post by DC and then clean it again, can't hurt any.
